summer camps for boys in the Jackson area

Postby Jelly » Tue Jan 26, 2010 12:49 pm

Hey guys, I have a 6 year old little guy and am trying to find some summer sports camps for him and don't know where to start looking. Anyone know of any right off hand..

I have heard of Alpine and I think Tara has a summer camp also..
Why is my mouth so dry this morning, when I drank so much last night?

My cousins own Alpine and I went there in my youth. It is a very special place that I will always look fondly on. I started when I was around 8 or so. Its not a sports camp, but they do sports. It is on top of the mountain in Mentone Al and the boys spend time doing ropes courses, hiking, camping, kayaking, rock climbing, ext, ext. Great values and great people. I probably wouldnt send a 6 year old but as he gets older look into it. It is an amazing place, run by great people.

Twin lakes in jackson has a good christian summer camp also. My girls have been the last 2 summers and loved it. They may go to desoto (the girls sister camp of Alpine) once they get a little older, but they have really gotten a lot out of twin lakes. My girls are 6 and 9.

My nephew goes to this YMCA camp outside of Vicksburg. I'm not sure if this is the type you are looking for.

FInd a church that is going to a crosspoint camp and see if he can go with them. It is a sports camp with a strong Christian emphasis. Have always heard great things about them.
