It was brutal this morning

Postby StraightUp » Sat Jan 09, 2010 4:43 pm

I had to use a two ton floor jack to free my boat from the trailer this morning. Busted thru one inch ice to get to my "spot". Cupped wings and orange feet make people do strange things.

That place looks familiar. Where is that if you don't mind me asking?

We also busted ice this mourning. It was from the boat ramp all the way to our hole. It was worth it, we killed 24 by 7:30. I had a youth with me that shot a box of shells faster than that Benelli guy can even load his gun.

Talking about strange(stupid)- I crawled on my hands and knees about 80 yds across ice to retrieve a duck my son shot.Haven't done anything that stupid in several yrs. He convieniately had a leak in his waders and couldn't help bust and rake ice, sling decoys or retrieve birds. You should have seen my fat ass kick it into high gear on the way back when the ice was cracking under me. I looked like something off ninja warrior challenge.

We hunted a shallow lake in N. Miss this mornin and I was amazed at how much ice there was the whole lake was a sheet of ice. I treid following other boats paths, but it would freeze almost instantly after drivin through it. I have hunted in cold temps before, but I can't remeber ever seeing ice that thick on a lake that big.

We even had a far amount of ice down here in our neck of the woods. Some river bouys had so much ice in them you could no longer hear them or see any likght emitted out of them. Haven't seen anything like that in over 15 years.
