Noxebee Refuge
Noxebee Refuge
Anybody ever hunt this place? My brother in law got the draw for tomorrow and want's me to go. I'm just looking for some general info. Timber vs open water etc. Any help would be great.
Where'd who go?

You better look for any open water, and wear orange!

It's a flooded greentree, you have assigned holes. Sometimes good mostly a woody shoot with a couple mallets but rare.

Re: Noxebee Refuge
Plenty of woodies and lots of people blowing mallard calls for no reason. The designated hunting "holes" are also close together. You should still be able to get your limit of at least woodies.

Re: Noxebee Refuge
it was a stuttgart calling contest to the woodies that were flying when i went recently, but you might just might see a mallet or two

Cyberscouter!!!!
When you get there you will draw a ping pong ball with a number on it. That's the order in which you get to choose your hole. There will be numbers from previous hunts for the holes you can base your choice on.

nah, there's not a terrible walk on the place. The furthest hole is... uh...#23 (I think) and it is all on the levee. Have fond memories of #23 - killed my first duck there...
Re: Noxebee Refuge
If you get there and they say the river is out and you'll have to walk from the check station, go home!! Ive done it and its no fun!! Other than that its a pretty good place. Have had some good hunts there in the past.
Re: Noxebee Refuge
Very few birds killed there this year. Don't count on that limit of woodies. Several holes have very little water. Some walks are much worse than others.

agreed... but you can call ahead and ask ((662)323-5548 or 662.323.6349)... I live 6 hours away now (or I'd be there) and still call to check on conditions... good folks up there most do what they can to help instead of trying to screw you over. They keep the numbers posted in the duck shed so, depending on who you talk to, may or may not give you an update on kill numbers...
