Best Way to Repair Decoys?

Postby A5 » Mon Jan 26, 2004 12:16 pm

After this season my spread took quite a beating, especially from the diver hunts. Just wanted to know the best way to patch all of the little holes in them when they got peppered?

A5, The hot glue gun, does better for me !, although I have fixed em with silicone before !

Touch-up paint will adhere to the glue better !

Just a thought !

If ya shoot the duck WHILE there in the air and not on the water..those little holes will go away...otherwise you waterproof caulking
I may go to Heaven, or I may go to hell....But one thing is for certain..It'll be after Duck season!!

Decoy Repair

Hey BUSTIN' DUCKS, you ever gone diver hunting for bluebills and buffleheads? They don't drop vertical like greenheads in timber do. When buffleheads come across the spread six inches off the water sometimes you have to sacrifice a deke or two.

I got a buddy that swears by the spray foam. You are certainly right, they won't sink after that. I prefer to use the hot glue gun myself after drilling the hole and letting them drip dry.

Shoe Goo -- fixes decoys and waders in a jiffy.

Shooting them in flight would certainly help!

Jim - why don't you start a poll, asking which method people we they should use to repair them? Which ones would most likely p!$$ off the least people. hehe

RIP EM is right. A hot glue gun and some glue sticks is the way to go. I still have G and H dekes that were patched 4 years ago with hot glue that are still holding.
