Public land hunting-> sometimes Wardens are our friends

Postby Swamp Dawg » Mon Jan 26, 2004 9:41 am

got to spot early saturday morning (since would be last morning that I could hunt, no other boats in sight (good sign), set up was complete by 5am and just waiting for legal shooting, and low and behold here come anthr boat coming toward me, (shined light at boat and then over my dekes, boat never stopped and go w/in 100yds of set up. THey started throwing dekes out and hollaring and yelling real loud. By the time my blood pressure got up so high (I thought, i should go over and give a little talking) the game warden came up and found that they had open containers (whiskey) and also lead shot in shotguns. (The Wardens sent them back to boat landing and didn't let them p.u dekes). I hated to do it but after about hr or so, I came out with 3 more dozen dekes and a mallard machine. When came to ramp no one was around and loaded boat up and left. (sometime wardens came be your friend and damn sure made my season)

Nothing like stealing someone elses equipment is it?

Bottomline regardless of what your reply is. The Dekes and machine was not yours to take. And I for one would not want you as a friend. If you'll take from someone else you'll take from me. :?

To boast about it is a joke.

I agree with msduckmen,

Just because the guys made you a little hot around the collar and were illegally hunting waterfowl, that gave you no reason to steal there stuff.

What were you thinking, I thought hunters were ethical sportsman, not thieves.

Hope I never run across you in the woods, not to mention anywhere else.
Its not having what you want.......

Its wanting what you have...........

Swampdog, check with the gamewarden and tell him you took the decoys out for him. You will never rest well using them, even though the idiots they belong to deserve what they got. Just do the right thing, man. I know if the wardens were at the landing you would have done it then. Try to take the next best step, now. There are a lot of young men and boys who frequent this site. What do you want them to know about you? I'm not condemning you, not sure I wouldn't have done the same thing. But, I do know what I would do now. At least think about it. Hope to hear from you.

Is nothing sacred? :( Do yourself a favor and turn that junk over to the Rangers and explaine your story. Yall will be a better man for it. Ever heard of bad carma? If that makes your season, you need another hobbie. 8)

I do not know nor can I speak of your original intentions at this point. One can only hope that you truly are a man of integrity and that you will return the property to the wardens or its rightful owner. Their behavior is no excuse, if you keep it it's stealing. Just my .02 cents........

He never said he took the equipment with the intentions of keeping it. Everybody assumed he did. I think the right thing is to give it back also but the nerve of the idiots who got caught it serves them right in the first place. Face it guys, there are others out there who are going to act and do just what these boneheads did. I think if swamp dawg had not of taken them, somebody else would have. I bet they are sick about having to pay a hefty fine in addition to thinking they'll have to replace their equipment also. Justice does prevail sometimes and swamp dawg got his.

Don't send the equipment to them...make them come and get it.
Cause them as much inconvenience as you can.

Swampdog, thanks for calling the feds. It's in their court now. You never said you were going to keep them, so sorry if I jumped the gun. It just sounded like you might be tempted to keep them. You are a better man than the ones who lost them; didn't want you corrupted by their stuff. Anyway, you would have gotten mad all over again everytime you looked at their stuff, and you don't deserve that. :D

It is nice when the n'er-do-wells get what's coming to them, though, isn't it!

Maybe he didn't intend to keep them but that is not how the above quote read.
Made my season by getting the other hunters or by getting additional equipment. I would never have touched them to begin with. Had nothing to do with me. Ramsey and I saw a very simular situation last Thursday. Never in my mind did I even consider taking them. Who is to say they didn't return after you left to retreive them?

Big question is why did you get involved period. I think I already know.

MSDUCKMEN...I clicked on your web pages..Just was wondering..How come you didn't have DElta Waterfowl on it...I saw DU...anyway...I tried to register for the monthly giveaway..but it wouldn't let me...So I tried to re-register w/ the Refuge...(I guess thats the registering you talking about)..Then it said you can only register on Sat/Sun..to be approved the following Monday..What kinda crock of BS is that....

Have I overlooked something or is that normal for new member to wait...What is so important in that site..to have to wait for "approval"..not much I've been on thee and I didn't see much before...

Like I said maybe I overlooked something....Just was wondering..
I may go to Heaven, or I may go to hell....But one thing is for certain..It'll be after Duck season!!

Well Busting it is like this.
That page belongs to the Refuge not me. They created the page to help people that wanted to know how to take down a firearm. You must log into and be a member of the Refuge to sign up for give aways. You can only sign up during certain times as they get so many request and many with temp emails that they figured if you really wanted to join then you would likely do it in the time frame set aside or not at all. They had to do something since the site has right at 19,000 members and to manage that is monster. As you can see it is a FREE site so what's the big deal?
The reason you haven't seen much changes on the GunMaintenance site (I think that is what your referring to) is because unlike most of you I have been hunting not posting on the internet. (After all it was hunting season) :?

You haven't seen much on it and haven't seen much before huh? Then may I suggest that you just not worry about going there then and it won't put you out soo much. BAWAHAHAHAHA

If it is my home page your referring to, I have been reworking it and will have a new site up later this summer and refuse to spend a lot of time updating up. Besides it only had 152296 views since I opened it in May of 2000.
I can see where it is not being used.
