DU Sponsor
served on local committee for approx 10 years
Sponsor chairman for 2 years
also member of Delta Waterfowl
Both organizations are important to the ducks: DU focuses on conservation and preservaton of wetlands; Delta focuses on predator management and other important research to learn more about protecting the resource ---- much more important than just a magazine.
Everyone who hunts ducks should be a member of each organization ---- no excuses ----if you think they drink too much at the banquets, don't go to the banquets, or start your own non-drinkers chapter --- but pay your membership dues anyway ---- burnt out on committee work? that is ok, keep supporting with your checkbook ----anyone can think of excuses not to do something they should --- if you do not like things the way they are, change it --- start your own chapters and have at it, or join a committee, voice your opinions, and try to effectuate positive changes. When the ducks are enjoying their breeding habitat, they won't care if the money raised to purchase or preserve the habitat came from a drinker or non-drinker. It is just important that the habitat is preserved.
And finally, if you want to help the ducks, call(or write, e-mail, etc.) your US representatives and senators and let them know how important CRP, WRP, and other such programs are to you and the ducks ----do not even consider voting for a politician who will not support these programs ---- and thank them for the extra days of hunting, well into January, while you are at it.
Geeesh. I am astonished at some of the people on this board who rant against the robos and will not even contribute the $25 minimum membership fee for DU or DW. Money talks and BS walks. So there. Sorry for the rant.

Sorry, but if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. I just have a real problem with this part of DU, which is why I'm not a member and don't plan on joining. Not trying to be self-righteous, but I am sticking to my guns.if you think they drink too much at the banquets, don't go to the banquets, or start your own non-drinkers chapter --- but pay your membership dues anyway
