Check this out

Postby Unkljohn » Mon Dec 08, 2008 10:56 am

I went to check on a friend of mines place that has a pretty good duck hole on it. Atleast it's pretty good by East Central MS standards anyway. It's a small beaver pond about 80 yards from the edge of his property, in the woods. His neighbors have row crops and some catfish ponds that border his 120 acres. I see a big group of Mallards get up as I'm walking but I notice that they didn't come from his place, and they didn't come from the catfish ponds either. I walk to the line to investigate. Right there hard against his line is a little blind made of cinder blocks with pallets on top and some camo burlap overhead. I also notice that they've pulled a levee right down the property line and it's holding water over about a 40 yard X 60 yard area, and it's covered with corn, corn in the water, corn on the ground, there's even corn on his side of the line! I call him and tell him about it, he calls the GW and they show up and say well about all we got is a baiting ticket unless we can catch them shooting over it!  I hope they catch him.
Edit to add: Can anyone tell me what this little infraction would cost someone! I want this guy to PAY!!!

so explain how that works... can you and the land owner still hunt his side since there is bait within where ya are hunting.... just on someone else's property or what.... never heard this question asked before....
If it wasn't for bad luck then i would have no luck at all........

Could be a sticky situation. He cannot hunt an area that's under the influence of bait. Could be a judgement call on the part of the GW.

I don't think we can hunt it, until 10 days after the corn is gone.

No, his levee went directly down the line. That's where he had corn scattered all over the top of the levee and you could see it in the water from my friends side of the line. All of the neighbors property is row crop land or catfish ponds, but his blind was hidden in the trees on my friends side of the line.

I would get a 100 yards from him with some bird shoot and everytime I saw a bird i would pull the trigger. If the game warden stops you...You were squirrel hunting

By the way, I'm talking about shooting in the air, not at the Birds

I don't think its as bad as you described I know the 15 year old that did that and it has never been hunted over, but he did get some amazing still frame pictures. Sounds like you got the red tail cause you don't have the ducks

Right, a 15 year old went to all that trouble just so he could take a few pics... Pics are much easier to take when they are of dead ducks. I don't have the "red tail" about anything, I'm just amazed that someone would intentionally screw up a neighbors place to hunt, especially by using a method that could get their neighbor a BIG ticket. Whatever happened to being a good neighbor? I guess that doesn't apply to some folks.

how many shot hulls did you find to prove that he is hunting. what happened to people being innocent til proven guilty, and why does everybody on here act like all they shoot is green and they've never broken any laws. sounds like a self righteous, self centered faction
