Motor Size and Where To Get It

Postby stateguy » Tue Oct 28, 2003 8:39 pm

I need some help, I am looking at getting a 1648 F&F boat, but I am getting it directly from F&F and they don't sell motors. I want a 40 4 stroke. What's your favorite motor, and where can I get the best price on it. I am willing to take on more weight (Yamaha or Suzuki) to get a better price. Would have to drive from SE Ark, so I would need a pretty good deal to travel a long way. Any advise is appreciated.

Let me suggest the Nissan 50 hp TLDI. This motor offers everything that the four strokes do without the bulk or the weight. I purchased one at the beginning of duck season last year and that thing is unbelievable (runs very quiet!). You could not believe the fuel milage that you can get out of this motor. I live in Greenville, MS, but drove to Crossett, AR and purchased mine from Crossett Marine & Motor Sports, INC (870) 364-4888. Ask to speak with Richard... he will explain everything that you would ever want to know about these motors and compare it to the four strokes. He will save you lots of $ and you will like this Nissan much better than a four stroke.

Before you buy, call Jaco's Marine to check on a price. They have the Mercury 4-strokes which are manufactured by Yamaha. I bought a 250 Mercury from them a few months ago, and they were great to deal with. They shipped the motor to me, and everything was just as they said.

Give H & M Marine in Crowley, LA a try.. I bought a 50 hp Yamaha, wanted a tiller handle, he was about 1,000 $ cheaper than anybody I could find in MS, AR.. I picked mine up but a friend bought one and just had it shipped..

Change of mind

Postby stateguy » Wed Oct 29, 2003 10:05 pm

I have about decided to go with the 2 stroke. So much cheaper. The TLDI is worth the extra cost? I live in Crossett, and Richard seems so much higher on everything I have priced with him. I am headed to Lafayette this weeekend, so I will check with H&H and look up the dealers in New Iberia. If yall have anything else for me, let me know. Thanks

Nissan

The TLDI is deffinately worth the few extra dollars that you will spend. I was shopping for a four stroke last year before I bought the Nissan and found that it had too many advantages not to spend a little bit more. You will be happy with this motor! Let us know where you find the best buy!
