concealed gun license
Anyone here have one? My father was telling me a story about a guy he knows who was in Atlanta who was robbed in the back of a cab. Just makes me want protection.
I'm just curious if the people who have them, does it make you feel more secure or do you feel more at risk? Any feedback?
P.S. This has nothing to do with the Presidential Election.

Glad you asked. I was going to ask the same thing this morning. Where in Jackson do I go get my paperwork? HP building off Woodrow Wilson? Do you have to pay the $125 up front or after you take your paperwork in?
And mine IS about this election. The brothers are starting to get really cocky.

The application is on the Department of Public Safety website. There are only certain days of the week you can make application, in person, at certain MDHP offices. The fee is due at the time of application.
I have a permit. Sometimes I carry and other times I don't. Depends on when and where I'm going.

It carries with it a tremendous personal responsibility that I do not believe the majority understand. I suggest you research, research, research.
I have had my license either in TN or MS for over 10 years.

Re: concealed gun license
I have thought about this, and prayed about this, A LOT. I've considered getting the permit and carrying 24/7. I've considered getting the permit and carrying during the week and on 'certain occassions' such as when I travel. I've considered not getting the permit and carrying 24/7 because the 2nd ammendment already gives that right (Remember, there are 2 states that do not offer permits because of this, AND there are valid points to consider against getting the CCP.) I've considered not getting the permit and risking the fine - just in case. I've considered not getting the permit and not carrying at all. And I have considered every option in between.
It is a VERY BIG responsibility. So, officially, I am still considering. My final decision, however, will not be made public.

Does the newspaper still print the names and addresses of applicants? Where were they getting this info in the first place?

I have one, as do most of my friends. I don't always carry, but I CAN legally carry now. As stated, it is a big responsibility.

Ahhh, to carry or not to carry... I don't have a permit to carry. But there was a time when I did quite often. Problem was it was typically kept in the truck when I was headed in and out of the store, work, camp, etc. Doesn't do much good there when I'm in the middle of the parking lot. I did project work that at the time was putting me in the middle of "project" neighborhoods that even the site supervisor didn't want to be out about on his on. Now I don't bother. I have a job with a big corporation. If its found in the truck in the company parking lot even, I'm fired, no questions. I'm also living in a neighborhood that is so "Mayberryish" it made me wonder if it was real when my wife and I walked around the corner to vote yesterday. Now I worry more about one of the neighborhood children being an innocent victim.
That being said my wife and one of her friends are going to take a class and get carry permits. Her rationale finally is that since I have these guns in the house she needs to learn to be comfortable with them. I've taken her to shoot. But in the past she never was excited about it. She says she doesn't intend to carry. She just wants the ability to be able to without worrying about it.
Finally I'd say get the permit, carry for awhile and figure out when you feel you need to and when you don't. The most important thing to remember is YOU are morally responsible for keeping up with the thing at ALL times. You have it on you in your control at all times or you lock it up and the truck doesn't count.

Wife does not need a class to be permitted. I commend and encourage her to take one though! As you stated it is a huge undertaking but I refuse to be a victim!
