Millenium Stand Question

I have purchased the Millenium Stand with 4 ladders and 3 additional receivers. I have always hunted from climbers (Ol' Man, Summit, and API) all with success and confidence. I hear people raving on the new Millenium. I can see how the Millenium has appeal with the multi mount system, but here are my concerns. I put the new Millenium up today and wonder if I placed it correctly.

1. I used the 20' Millenium stick ladder. It went together easy and I placed it on the tree. It must of taken me 30 minutes to get it attached, the anchoring straps did not work with one hand operation. I had to hold the tree, stand with pressure on one foot and attempt to operate the strap all at once. By the end of this ordeal my legs and hands were killing me.

2. I attached the Millenium receiver to the tree. It seemed to work well and cammed over to create a good connection.

3. I placed the stand in the bracket and here is where the fun begins. I unhooked the two small bunge type rubber bands that hold the seat and floor up. This created a situation where the platform and seat came down at the same time with my finger between to smash the hell out of them. I placed the seat back up then.
4. I stepped over onto the platform, and holy Shi#t the bottom of the stand kicked to the side.
5. Now completely un-nerved I attempted to step to the back of the platform against the tree to get a death grip on the tree trunk, now the receiver and chain set itself in place about an inch lower than I started scaring he again. Now I am convinced that I am going to die in this contraption. I stood there as still and clenched to a limb above me for what felt like an eternity.
6. Moments later, I talked myself into turning the limb above me a loose, and I am going to take the seat down. I un-bungeed the seat and it fell towards me, hitting me in the groin. I tried to move back and let the seat down in place and discovered that I was on the very edge of the stand. Now I had to let the tree trunk go so I could do an about face on my new aluminum diving board.
7. Now seated in my Millenium stand, I will agree they are comfortable, but I was concerned on how I was going to get down. (I literaly had a conversation with God, If you will let me down I will start living better.)
8. Now on the ground I felt like I had pissed away my purchase price because I am scared of it.

Here is what I am looking for. Is the stand just that damn scary or is it just me?

You'll get used to it and inprove your process. That poretty much sums up my first experience too. Now, I bet ai can set one up in the same amount of time as someone climbing in an ol'man.
Remember to use a climbing belt when setting it up. That way you can lean back when attahcing everything, makes it much more comfortable and safe.
I also like to set my stand about two steps below the top of my ladder so I am climbing "down" into the stand instead of "up".

The millenium ladders suck. If you have to use them go buy some rachet straps and replace the ones that come with it.

True dat. I put a ratchet around the bottom of my millenium also, elimantes the chance of it "kicking"

There is a strap that comes with the safety harness which comes with the stand that is just as good as a rachet strap. I put this strap around the bottom to prevent kickout.

I use a strap at the bottom to prevent the teter or kickout also. I have found they tend to be stable on a bigger tree when available.

Thanks for the responses, it sounds like the folks at Millenium need to add two items to there components that are included with Millenium Loc-On.

1. a ratchet strap to connect around the bottom of the stand (idea from posts)

2. a blank living will form to be completed by the purchaser (my idea)

I did not have any problems at all hanging mine and I have two of them.

no problem hanging mine, I don't have a strap at the bottom of mine and haven't noticed any kickout.

+ 100 on the straps SUCKING!!!!!!!!!! Hard to get tight and dry rot quickly as I found out the hard way this year. Stands are ok just use a climbing belt as stated above to eliminate fatigue and I would add a binder to receiver if you want added safety instead of the flip it over deal as there is usually a lil slack. My 2 cents.

And a living will doesn't help you much if you die.

And could somebody PLEASE explain the cam deal to me. I got 19 years of schoolin, not braggin, just tryin to say I am not the dullest tool in the box, and I am not confident that I have it right yet. I thought I did and was showing how amazing the stands are to a buddy at ground level and think I still got the buckle upside down and wound up having to beat the stand out with a mallet, and it wasn't easy.

Now I am wondering if the stand I have in a tree somewhere that i have hunted out of will come out of the cam, and if it won't how lucky I am to be alive at this point. I guess it all depends on what "up" means, and "up" is written on both sides. And I could use some insight on how to QUICKLY attach the chain while in the tree, yeah I know to get a waist belt around the tree, but how tight should the chain be?
