Do a search for retreiver clubs in the jackson area. They can get you headed in the right direction.

Lou, why arent ya'lls date mentioned on wrc clander of events? I had been checking it... thinking I had missed jackson, till you posted this. I thought that was the Bible of akc events... is there somewhere else they are all posted, perhaps there is other events I overlooked. travis

Dunno... I might... magnolia is one week, and black warrior the next... now that I got a chance to hit 2, I might do that. Gives me the weekend after the grand, and another weekend to show rowdy some aksea tricks... Might run that funky macks gig instead, but i think i'd rather hit 2 masters and be done for the season.

Doesnt midsouth have a fun hunt the weekend before magnoila? travis

Gator,
There is a rulebook for AKC hunt test on the AKC website. I looked it up today to get some insight on the test.

The rulebook in akc is more guidleines and what must be included... judges have much more varience in what they do. For example I think it says master marks shall not normally be longer than 100 yards... yeah, right. HRc rule book says 150 yards, and thats firm... 152 is illegal... in master, as long as they have the required number, its on. Judges have total say, no committee to overrule them. So the tests vary more from test to test, itd be more benfical to know what the advertised judges like Id suppose.

Gator, lou knows more than me, but for senior, expect a double thats tighter than seasoned marks... probably wont be inlines or anything, but will be tighter, and one will be a flyer (typically last bird down). That flyer fall close to memory bird will provide some suction. Only seen a coule of them, and they could throw flyer out of order, but I wouldnt think itd be common. Blind is supposed to be sperate from the marks, but it will be tight to the marks. I saw a senior blind off the back of a flyer staation in one of the tests I saw. Judging will be tighter on the blind as well, and a dry shot from one of the winger is norm (I think its a rule). Blinds can be up to 100 yards, and they do expect you to 'stay in the window'. At least one series has an honor too. Walk up marks are allowed I belive, but dont know if they are mandntory like a master series. It wont be a walkup as in 'there goes one' over yo head, it'll be one of the marking series starred as you walk up. Typically they call and/or shoot from the guns.. you stand quietly (no talking) and if they know your an hrc redneck, they'll hammer you for tapping your leg to swing your dog. bwhahahaha. Seniors much tighter overall than seasoned, a real good step between seasoned and finished. Maybe lou will correct my assumptions, like I said, Ive only seen maybe 2 master tests, and 4 sensior tests, so my observations are real limited. travis

Travis you are real close man! We don't really hammer you for tapping your leg anymore. All AKC Hunt Test are on the AKC website under performance events. The rules can be found there also. Memphis is at the end of the month. Then it will be North East Louisiana in Columbia, LA. Then Pontchatrain in New Orleans, then Us and then Black Warrior in Demopolis. I have my chocolate runing in all of them except The memphis test. Still too hot for a dog to be running in that! Oh, I almost for got the new club in North East Arkansas. Charlie Moody is running my boy up there. Travis you should try and make that New Orleans Test. They are having a double Master. One test starts on Friday and the next one starts on Saturday. You have a chance to get two ribbons in one show. If you get 5 passes then you can go to the master national in Wissconson. That would be awesome. I still have my hopes up for my boy, even though this is his first real shot at the run. I told Charlie I would give him a bonus if he makes it to the Master Nationals. He has a couple dogs going to the Master Nation this year in Thomasville, GA. Good Luck to everyone this year and We hope to see you at our test. If there are more questions just PM me and I will do my best to help. If you plan on running in any test, do not put it off we have closing dates that we must adhere by. Our entries are unlimited, we have to accpet every entry that comes in to the hunt test secretary. We just sent over 300 premiums out today for our test. oh, by the way who wants to shoot some ducks! WE will need some gunners. lunch will be included.
