Teal - Anybody else scouting

Haven't seen a teal yet, did see a Pintail over the weekend. Normally we see teal around August 15 and beyond down here on the southern end of the flyway.

Saw a couple good groups at Savannah NWR on Sunday. Then I saw thirty or forty hippies dancing in the park to a bongo drum.

Whats the limit on them and when does the season open. Doesnt Avery make some kind of pichuley mojo that plays a rythmic bongo sound. Ive heard it brings them in like crazy.

They should issue a conservation order permit on them. You wouldn't want to eat them, though.

Anybody anywhere close the Crowder area? Just curious to know if its even worth the drive. I know that last season we slammed teal during regular season, but never hunted early season down there.

Doc and Nash - Where are you seeing Teal at Pickwick? It would be great to sit around on the boat, swim, drink a beer and shoot teal.

I know exactly where they hang out. You bring the beer and the boat, and I'll show ya. Problem is, I can't get you up early enough to go look.

jdgator, those weren't hippies! Those were game wardens trying out our goobernator's (I mean governor's) new survellience techniques. The new tie-die uniforms are pretty cool, I have to admit!

Early season teal are very scarce around here. May see some on the Altamaha, down at Rhetts or Butler (and they really did name duck ponds after a movie character). We get a few greenwings during regular season, but not many blues either time. I've seen none on Sinclair or any of the beaver ponds I hunt. Threre are a few on a field where some folks dove hunt every year. They bushhog the corn and then flood a section to have water for the doves to hold them. There were two or three bluewings on that small pool of sheetwater last weekend, but you have to have waaaaaay more money than I have to get invited on that hunt!
