Postby champcaller » Tue Jun 10, 2008 8:41 pm

i guess im in the thread startin mood as of late

but whats the coolest/neatest/weirdest thing you found (or seen i suppose) while outside hunting or fishing.

the coolest thing ive found is prolly just some arrowheads and the coolest thing ive seen was a hawk take a wood duck out of mid air..

The goose that I saw fly into a powerline during the goose hunt this year was probably the weirdest thing I"ve ever seen. He fell dead in the neighboring field. I was talking to mr greenjeans when this happened.

Cajun Squealer can verify. 8)

A massive duck tornado I saw while goose hunting was pretty cool. Several thousand landed in and around us. A close #2

The greatest thing about being an outdoorsman is that everytime I spend some good time outside I see something that I've never seen before. Possibly a bird, fish, owl eating a mouse, ect ect. Without fail something different every time. I set my watch and warrent by it.

Funniest---- 2 kids driving a jeep thru a pot patch and not knowing what they were doing till the law stepped out from behind the trees!

Worst--- Finding a body in the MS river that had fallen off a towboat 3 weeks prior!

Someone else's duck decoys on my private field hole. Later bagged them up and labeled them as mine. Second best thing was coming back two weeks later and finding the same set up. Guess they got the message after 5 dozen were taken.

Found a meth lab once. Backed out and called the Sheriff who said they knew about it and planned to have it under surveillance for a few weeks to catch the cookers. Messed up hunting that area for a few weeks, but, the law caught 'em.

Coolest thing I've seen was two greenheads skybombing down from way up high. They were the only two ducks in the sky and were very far apart from each other, but I guess they had the same place to land picked out and they collided in mid air!! Was hunting with my cousin that has been hunting for 20 years and he said it was a first for him two.

The first time I took my girls hunting they got to witness a blue bird (not a blue Jay) hop into the blind on their end. He had hopped down to the shelf in the front of the blind and started pecking Becca sandwich. The look on their face was one of shear amazement. They had leaned foward and were no more than one foot away from him for at least 3 minutes.

A couple of years ago, we crippled a gadwall. It was swimming around our decoys when all of a sudden, it was sucked under by a alligator. The gator then climbed up on a log and stayed there the whole time we hunted. I had to put a leash on my dog. Very scary moment.

I found a full blown and working moonshine still and I did like I have ALWAYS been told get out of the area and stay out of it. I can tell you that I know the smell and when I smell it I leave the area. It still amazes me as to how much of the "Shine" is still being made, everyday.
If you can't hunt it with a dog, I don't want to hunt it..........
