final retrieve

Postby skuna » Mon Apr 14, 2008 8:39 pm

I got an email this morning that tore me up. A pup I donated to the YRP program and ended up with the Harris' of Columbia, MO died at the early age of 4 (would have been 4 July 4th). Bubba was owned and trianed by Jake Harris and had handled Bubba all the way to finished. I think he was the first or only YRP pup to be handled by the owner all the way to HRCH. I got emails, pictures, and phone calls regularly from Jake or his dad Jim, keeping me up to speed on Bubba's progress. They found him in the kennel late last night very bloated and immediatly rushed him to the vet. They worked on him but he passed a few hours later. Jake and Bubba were true pals and I know he is taken it hard. Always tough to see'm go.

I know it tore you up. the email hit home for me, and would for anybody who has lost a best friend. I always enjoyed hearing the updates over the years. you were obviously a bit proud of them, and had good reason to be.. hate to think about what that young fella is going through, but know the good far outweighs it.

thanks to you, his family, hrc, etc.. I'd bet HRCH Bubba (and 1 master pass..) will be the first of many fine dogs that walk to the line with Jake Harris.
