Re: Places to Eat in Natchez
Whatever happened to John Martin who had his own place and, prior to that, was the chef at Liza's?

John Martin died several years ago on the operating table while undergoing gastric bypass

Re: Places to Eat in Natchez
All of the places listed are very good, I can not believe no one has mentioned the sandbar across the river in Vidalia, great seafoos and the cajun steak is excellent. I believe west bank closed. Just as mentioned before Pig Out Inn has some of the best pulled pork around, Fat Mama has great margarits and I recommend the gringo pie, Pearl Street is great if you want pasta. So it really depends on what you want.

Pearl Street Pasta- Italian
LaFiesta Grande- Mexican
!~@# of the Walk or Sandbar (Vidalia) -catfish
Pigg Out Inn- BBQ
Carriage House at Stanton Hall- Fired Chicken
Magonlia Grill (Under the Hill)
Funny thing is that the "filter" on this message board took out the word for "male chicken"
Re: Places to Eat in Natchez
I can vote yes to - The Sandbar and Pig Out Inn. Both are good eating.
I'll keep the list to try the others when i'm down that way.

Re: Places to Eat in Natchez
the top three in order, no doubt!
1. slough daddy's(in the old west bank on the river) it is on the vidalia side on the riverfront. eaten there many a times and bragged every time how good it was. bunch of local coonazzes from monterey doing it up right. best boiled shrimp, oysters on the half shell, and fried catfish or redfish.
2. biscuits and blues on sunday, catfish trosclair no doubt, or there ribs are second in the world to the rendevous in memphis.
3. fat mamas is more of a drinkin joint you want to hit on maybe fri. night and get knocked naked, it is moving but is still open. get the gringo pie.
best of the rest:
1. the tavern prime rib is off the chain.
2. malt shop cheeseburger plate is the best deal around.
3. duck's nest II on lake st john by ferriday has the best seafood.
4. pearl st. pasta creole pasta is pretty good.
only if someone else is buyin:
1. sandbar is freakin horrible now, use to be the best place around but food is not fresh on day old grease and steaks are half rottin
2. pig out inn is ok, but not worth the price you pay for all the smoky flavor you get.
the number one place to eat in natchez!
the nwtf banquet on main street friday night. get you a steak, whole lot of cold pops, and maybe a little hottie with the top auctioned to the highest bidder. just come to mainstreet cafe bout 7.

I eat out in Natchez more than 99% of the population of Natchez, since I am usually there 1 week outta every month.

Re: Places to Eat in Natchez
Also forgot about Barry's Seafood buffet it is also excellent. Tavern is best steak in town. Supposedly it is haunted by three different ghost. One is the girl found in the wall, then there is an Indian and then supposedly another ghost that was hung there when it was a stage coach stop(supposedly he bashed a babies head into the wall because it was crying).
Re: Places to Eat in Natchez
ditto on fat mama's. also, there is a greek place there in downtown. cant remember the name, but it was great when i ate there back in may of 07. try it if its still there.
