Doves?
One of the best dove fields we had in the crowder area occurred after "losing" the sunflowers to highwater in the spring. About 10 of our 15 acres got a good dunking for a few days. We just let em go. Of course grass grew up everywhere when the water dropped. In August we sprayed, waited for it to dry out, then mowed and burned. Not so much sunflower seed as grass seed on the ground, then we let a little water in from a rice levee on the lower end. Ya had to swat the things out of the way. I had a broken arm that year, with pins and screws sticking out of it eveywhere, and even I limited out very easily. They were as thick as the "skeeters" for a few weeks. So all is not lost even when your field isn't so pretty.
Please Dawgs win one.
Drakeshead,
I think I know where you are talking about. I've turkey hunted the gas line before you go back under the Trace on County Line Rd. My wife's kin is thick all along Pontocola Rd. Our field is on CR 410.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. Benjamin Franklin.
