Are you a tried and true Deltonian, or just a winter-time transient?

Let's get down to the real nitty gritty. All this complaining about out of staters coming to the Delta to hunt typically comes from folks that are usually out of Deltaers themselves. I mean, who is making the real sacrifice here, the guys from the hills or those of us who live in the Delta 24/7/365?

You know who you are. You live in Jacktown, Tupelo, Southaven, Meridian, Hattiesburg, etc. You own a dog named Delta, or Cotton, or something Deltaish. You think gumbo is a cajun food and you think red clay is really bad mud. You have Delta towns under your avatar so folks will "know" you hunt "the Delta."

If you live in Batesville or Yazoo City, you're close enough to be called a Delta boy, I guess. All the rest of y'all hillbillies have no grounds to gripe.

 Of course it's all in fun. We welcome all you outsiders any time of the year. You boost our economy. We love you even though you pronounce it "bell-zo-nee"!

Word. I think we all oughta be able to hunt where we want to hunt, experiencing this great nation and all it has to offer, without being hassled about where we're from. Whether it be red fishing on the Louisiana coast, hunting elk in Montana, whitetails in Illinois, ducks in Arkansas, moose in Maine, bears in Alaska, pheasants in South Dakota, or liberals in California, we ought to all stick together as hunters, anglers and trappers and enjoy what the Good Lord has given us to take!

Well.....I was born in Doddsville, MS and raised in Bolivar, Sunflower, Holmes, and Leflore counties.

I resided in Oxford, MS for 3.5 years, and moved to Cleveland, MS to work and start a family.

I'm about as much of a "Delta Boy" as you can get, and my beef isn't with OOS hunters. I just can't stand stupid people, plain and simple. Stupid people ruin the sport for alot of folks, and if you hunt public, you have to deal with an increasing number of stupid hunters every year.

The only way to avoid all the idiots is to hunt private, and deer hunt when things are slow. At least that's the strategy I have adopted.

For the record, I used to hunt public more than 50% of my days afield when I was hunting 50+ days per season. Now, with limited time off (which equals limited opportunity), I rarely hunt public unless I know that I won't be within a half of a mile of a potential idiot.

It's all my fault.......Really? :D

There would be a community somewhere whether this site existed or not. It's all the publicity that our public land has gotten over the years that has turned it into what we have now.

I remember the numbers doubling after an article in Wildfowl magazine. Then, I start seeing the buddies of guys I knew from SC start coming and bringing more hunters. It's just snowballed from there.

It is how it is, so I'll just have to deal with the current state of things. I do hate it for the guys that don't have private land to hunt. At least I have options.

i live right dead in it. the biggest biitch i have is the oos come and try and lease everything up and run the prices sky high. if i paid 15 k for a field and hunted 30 times that is 500 a hunt --- i only charge 250 so u could hunt 60 days my way and not have to worry about having water and carrying all your shiit over here. that is my biggest complaint. like i said before i always pay a guide if i go fishing somewhere or if i got to ark and hunt so why would these guys think that it is right to come over here and hunt 6 weekends at most and pay that price???

thing is about lease prices going up. is it don't matter where u r from money is money and if you have alot u don't care how much something cost. i get to go hunting with a friend of mine in charleston a couple times a year in a very high dollar club and only 2 members are from al. the rest are from ms.
