Honda Ridgeline Truck

Postby Gelly » Thu Aug 16, 2007 4:56 pm

Anyone had good or bad experiences with the Ridgeline? Looking to get something that can pull a 1500# boat. They say its rated for a lot more but I would like some personal opinions and any other feedback that you might have. Thanks, the INJUN

Be careful if you wreck it. It has what the body shops call a "Uni-Body". If you need to replace the right rear quarter panel, then you have to replace the whole side. I never ever thought about that until it was brought to my attention.

Most 6 cylingers can easily tow 1500lbs.. My little chevy blazer was rated for 5,000lbs.. Personally I am not found of the ridgeline, nothing against Honda, but just doesn't look like a truck to me.. I saw a test on it.. The people comparing small pickups rated it highest overall, but said it was the leaset capable off road.

I work claims for a P&C insurer. (eg: I've seen everything wrecked.) The Ridgeline probably isn't a bad vehicle but it clearly is not a truck. It's basically a rebodied Passport which is just a rebodied Odyssey minivan. It's not four wheel drive it's all wheel drive. Look under the hood. The engine is sitting sideways on top of a transaxle. Essentially front wheel drive.

As previous poster said, it's a unibody vehicle like a car. There is no true frame under this vehicle. I'll give you an example of unibody. We wrote a sheet on a Ridgeline. Backed into a pole. Moderate damage to the plastic rear bumper cover(not steal bumper). REinforcement bar was not compromised. As we looked around the veh we realized that the left rear door was not lining up. We were about to chalk it up to poor assembly when we noticed the subtle wrinkle running from the top of the rear wheelwell all the way up the sail panel. Very unimpressive. Back into a pole and compormise the entire rear corner of a vehicle. Not for me.

It's a Honda it'll probably run forever and retain good resale, but it is nthing more that a minivan on steroids.

I know it's the ugliest truck out there.

I own one..its a good truck..it has 4 wheel drive that kicks in when you need it..you can also put manually put it into 4 wheel low when needed..On ly complaint I have is that rides a bit rough..I dont think the Japs took into consideration the suspention system when they designed it.. As far as pulling loads I pulled a 12 foot U-Haul trailer from Madison to Rapid City that was packed full of my stuff and never had any problems.

Honda has no business getting in the truck market. If you want a foreign truck get a Toyota.

THe bed of a truck is used to put stuff in. Why would anybody design an icechest below the bed. Not much use after filling the truck with gear.
