GHG is the "illegitimate child" son (i jut felt like calling it that) of Avery.
Drake is a company formed by the son of the original owner of Avery (because they were "@#$%#" out of their own company).
I do not like the way Avery does business, I do like the way Drake does.
I like the drake product line better also.
Drake is also based in MS.

All this = I buy drake from here on.

They make allot of stuff.... which products are you talking about ??

Greenhead gear can be on the cheap side, both in price and quality.
All of Drake stuff is top notch.

I like most everything Drake puts out and I have a ton of it. I have GHG decoys becuse thats what i bought when we started hunting all this public land. Probably will start trying to integrate some G&Hs into the spread now b/c the GHG arent holding paint very well. Also The drake Duck totes are terrible. The best one i have found is the avery one with nylon straps and metal rings. has held up to 2 years of ducks and carried roughly 1000 snow geese out of the field this past spring.

Very true. I have 2 doz GHG mallards and after 3 hunts the paint was chipping already. Bought 6 spoonies and first time I hunt them in the water, the white paint started flaking off. Wasn't too happy. I'll prob buy G&H next time.

Tom Matthews would love that if you posted it on the Avery site

Anyway - Drake was in fact formed by one of the founders of Avery. Go to the Drake site and you will see a really cool tribute to Tate Wood's old man Avery. He was a fine gentleman and although the encounters I had with him were fewer than some of you, he sure was well respected and well thought of throughout the Delta. Look at a 1977 MS State Duckstamp and you'll see his name as the Commissioner of the old Game and Fish Commission. His passing was a loss to the duck hunting world. Don Miller probably has a million stories that he could tell you

Went to the SHOT show this year and heard many a terrible story about Tom. I also heard a first hand account of how they lost their Realtree liscening contract, and their bass pro deal. First hand account: Tom was in a meeting with Bill Jordan and Johnny Morris. They were working on a deal for some bags and such with Realtree camo and bass pro logo. Tom said "If i do this for you, i want to be the only waterfowl line with Realtree camo and The only waterfowl equipment sold at bass pro. Some words were exchanged and basicly Bill and Johnny told him have fun buddy we can live without you but you cant live without us. That is why you never see avery gear in realtree or at bass pro anymore. also right before the shot show avery fired every single one of their sales reps in the southeast. That company is heading down the tube fast and i dont think it will be long untill it starts to show.

I personally dont think Avery products stand up to the elimates, I have had and still do own a few things fro mthem but they dont hold up. Drake on the other hand is a quality product that will stand up to the test of time
