Ya think BBB's are enough for teal?
I went to wally world today to buy some steel 4's and all the had was 6's and 7.5's. I did not even waste my money. I went thru my shell bag and found some T, BBB, and 1 shot leftover from last year. I don't think there will be very many cripples if I can land a pellet on the lil guys.

I did not know they made steel 7.5's. I have seen steel 6's, and steel 7's in target loads for clubs that shoot sporting clays over wetlands. Learn something new every day.

I don't know what the would be good for beside that. I shot rabbits with steel 6's one time because I ran out of dove loads and was pulling hair off the rabbits but they would keep running. If they won't kill a rabbit they dang sure won't kill a duck. They might cripple one but I am not going to waste all my shells on cripples and I'm not going to serve up one fat yellow lab to the gators for breakfast either. He will stay out of the water until late nov.

I believe some management areas that have ducks at any time during the year now require steel shot only for anything, including doves. That is the only reason I can think of. I know that is true in the Dakotas where folks pheasant hunt in the afternoon in the prarie grassland that ducks are using.

We have a refuge here that also has small game hunting; squirrel-rabbit and steel shot is mandated on these grounds. This reminds me of a trip on a rabbit hunt at the refuge. I was told I would probably see a big hog before I would a rabbit as this has been the case. I showed up with my Brn. Gold Stalker 10 ga and some F-T shot duplex
loads that I used on the big goose. I did want want to come face to face with a big hog and have a gun full of fine steel shot.
Why did the game warden look at me so funny? Hey; its steel shot and its rabbit season.

6's are a good shot for teal. If I was buying loads just for teal I would buy No.6 but I just use whats left over.
Man, back in the lead days, No. 6 was great for big ducks.

I have been using #6 shot for teal. I also have been having trouble finding any this time of year. (You know wait till the last minute to check for shells) I finally had some luck at a local pawn shop. He ordered them for me yesterday. He didn't know they made 7.5 shot in steel either. His supplier said all the WMA's in AR require steel for dove.

I was wrong, those were 7's on the shelf at wally world.
