history lesson

Postby dukdawgn » Tue Dec 03, 2002 11:36 am

yes sir, go ahead and look at the older bikes. Notice that Polaris starting making ATV's in '85 and Honda didn't start until '86? Now the fact remains that Honda mass produced their units vs. Polaris (with their one factory in minnesota) making them as fast as they could, Polaris sold every unit they had and Honda had ones left over.

Tell you what.....spend your 7G's on a Honda Rubicon, and while you're at it.....spend a "ben franklin" on a good cellular phone, too. I'm sure Honda will sell you some road side assistance for that bigred bike.

Thank you, How many 15 year old Polaris's do you see still kicking. Seems like everytime I pull up to our Super Junior I see one of those old Honda's in the back of a truck.

You want to talk about Honda's I tell you what I do with mine. I ride it out to my blind every morning I duck hunt in water that comes up to the head lights. Throw out the dekes off get my hunting partner off throw my gun and stuff off then I go park it in a willow ditch in water to hide it. It aint never failed me. Oh yeah its one of those old trusty Honda 300's.

To be honest with you, I dont know that I like the rubicons either, I dont want all that electronical crap on a 4 wheeler. I dont need a speedometer, I dont need a radiator (so coffee weed can stop it up and make it run hot). They put all this crap on them that is unneccesary. If I had my choice I would probablly by a Honda 400 now.

Artic Cat. It has been through anything and everything. I sunk it in a 12 foot deep drainage ditch 2 years ago. It sat there for 20 minutes before we could pull it out. Drained the carb and it cranked right up. Oh, it's 8 years old and has had nothing but minimal maintenance.

Memphis Stock Broker, I am a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and I assure you, I look at the label on everything I buy. I drive a GMC truck, I wear mostly Clarkfield, Jerzees, or Walls clothing, I wear military surplus fleece undies in cold weather made in Indiana, and as I said earlier, I realize sometimes it is not feasible or economical to buy everything American. I do hunt with a Beretta shotgun because remington is junk and most everyone else sends overseas including Winchester, Browning, (parts are interchangeable both mass produced in Japan). I maybe would have bought a Ruger Red Label until Bill Ruger sold out to the pressure of the NRA in 1993.

old honda's

Postby dukdawgn » Tue Dec 03, 2002 5:48 pm

Radiators are a joke? please.....

Colder operating temperatures and colder air intake make more HORSEPOWER. How do you think that the Polaris 400 makes 37hp and the Honda 400 makes 22hp? Don't take a rocket scientists to figure that one. hehehehehe

Alcohol and Nitrous oxide are preferred by racing pro's because they are cooler and combust at cooler temperatures. Ever touch an alcohol carb after making a pass down the track? Its freezing cold. COLD AIR=COLD OPERATION=MORE POWER=RADIATORS+TWIN VALVES+OVERHEAD CAMS

We've tried Honda's Yamaha's Kaw's and (Polasses) day in day out Honda & Yamaha's are hard to beat. They may not be the fastest, biggest ,or baddest S.O.B. out there but 3-5-or even 10 years down the road you will still have something that someone will buy. We have two Honda 450 E.S
and one Yamaha Kodiak all bought in '94 still going strong. These bikes have been serviced well but when used they have been road hard and put up wet. All three have been submarined at least three or four times. Hard to beat!!!!!!

Yamaha...my kodiak will go anywhere I want to go. Honda or Yamaha is a safe bet.
