MSDucks.com 'Big Honker Contest'

Postby Anatidae » Wed Dec 27, 2006 8:13 pm

First entry: 'Gamehog'
Goose weight: 11lbs - 9oz.

Image

Details: Shot over water spread @ 30 yds. Pair locked on the decoys @ 150yds out and glided in about 4-6 feet off the water.......all the way 'in', landing on the edge of the decoys.

This is as big as we've ever shot in Mississippi.....they don't get much bigger.

Rules: Entry must include photo of goose and hunter who bagged it.
Prize: Braggin' rights

You'd think it was cold from the picture.

Small detail since we are braggin' actually it was 11.9 lbs (or 11 lbs 14 oz).

Thanks for the "expert elite supreme" calling that brought em in.

Hell...you were callin', too!.......I only have the 'Elite Supreme' version of the same call, so I'm sure yours pulled'em on in......

No, it wasn't that cold.......that hood is to conceal your identity......and to point-out just how small the hole is in the AVERY® windproof hood.

One other observation.......you CAN kill geese with mis-matched camp patterns.

Correction noted........I don't pay attention.....11lbs - 14oz. it IS. 8)

Geese killed in Virginia count? I'm headin' to the Potomac on Friday. If I get lucky, I'll post up even if he gets disqualified for being an OOSer.

Post it up Mott and shoot me a PM on where you went - I may have hunted there in my old days back in Va. Resident and nonresident geese were often the best waterfowling going in the peoples demokratik republik of northern virginia. unfortunately some of my old goose fields are now subdivisions with $500k houses ...
