Another OOSer Rape and Pillage Story

Postby Dingy » Thu Dec 28, 2006 3:41 pm

Dad gum OOSers
I bust my hump to scout creeks and holes in East Miss for three seasons only to have some topwater chump come and crowd my holes. I had a friend from WI come down last week for a hunting trip and I was screwed! As most of you know we were fraught with temps near 70 all week and we only saw a sunrise 6 of 7 mornings because of fog. He works a full day sweepin chimney in WI, drives all night, get's here @ 5 a.m. and we proceed to venture on an unsuccesful hunt. Upon return to home we decide to walk a creek for some woodies. The very same creek I killed a band on the first evening of his trip last year. After the third bend he nails a nice spread eagle double and Milo brings back this:

Ok. He deserved that one with the drive and all.
Killed no more than 100 yards from where I killed mine the previous year. Mine was banded in TN and his at Noxubee. Mine's cooler.

Some crappy hunts pass by.

Finally, no fog+stiff wind+new hole=GREEN. Best mallard hunt I've been on in years. Done by 7:15 with five in the first few minutes. First bird comes in and I let him have it twice, each time pulling a feather out of his rear half. He's doing that flap where he may be liver shot and fall dead in a few more flaps or he may pick back up never to be seen again. Ryan let's him have it and drops him. Cool, at least he didn't get away. Milo dutifully brings him back and while I'll be a @#$$

Two in one week! Banded in Ontario in 2001.

If only he had been on a draw permit, daily or seasonal, perhaps I may have had a chance Image
