Gueydan.....what's going-on this weekend?

'Saw on another board, something about G&H 'something' in Gueydan. 'Was thinking about a Chien Caille speck call and some more G&H decoys. I'm interested in 2 doz speck shells, a doz blues and 4 doz snows. 'Need another dozen honker floaters, too, a couple dozen Mag mallard and a doz Black duck (magnums). Randy I have gone through two reeds on your speck call and to no avail, like the one in yours better, but I am still working on it. I have the next two days off, so may work on another reed or re tune the existing one then I'll get your call back to you.

Full choke, Mr. Mervis Saltzman makes the best soundin' speck call around at least that is my honest opinion. He is an old guy from Gueydaun that has been making them for years and years. I know he was the first to start making them in these parts. His calls sound great. He in fact made it into Mack's Prarie Wings this year in their call section. His call is called the Chien Caille which is french for spotted dog. I also make some calls for them which he helped me with a while back. However I would reccomend his, they are nice. If you don't get Mack's catalog, let me know I'll look up his web addy or put in goose calls into your fav. search engine and it will come up.

No, I haven't tried one but I've seen his video and you wouldn't believe what that man can do with that duck call....'sounds like the 'real thing'. One of these days I'll order one.

His cane calls are great. I love them I ran over my last one about two years ago, think I may get another one before this season. They are the bomb as far as cajun cane calls go. Faulk's used to be the only way to go in that department, but their quality control has gotten pretty bad. I think Mr. Saltzman's calls are awesome. His how to on Speck calling is also great. I know I am on the border line of sapm as much as I am praising him, but I think the world of the guy and he has not a big following outside of S. LA and he deserves the praise.
