Mornings as a rule, but there have been some jam up good mid-day hunts as well. The ducks just seem to be les suspicious mid-day. Its like they know the hunters have gone home for the day. We had a spot last year that the ducks only came into late in the afternoon. You had to watch the time to make sure you weren't late, but on a couple of afternoons it was bad medicine on gadwalls and mallards.

Ultimately I think hunting morning only helps the areas by allowing birds to rest, but some of my best hunts have occurred in the afternoon and even mid day. For me it largely depends on the area I am hunting.
I am a big fan of the "champagne afternoon hunt" which usually consists of a beautiful afternoon, not too cool but not too warm, with lots of sunshine making the water sparkle like champagne. This type of hunt usually always includes the consumption of my favorite libations or spirits and at times involves hunters of he fairer sex. On a day like this a couple of mallard drakes and making it back to the landing accounts for a succesful hunt.
BTW got one like this planned for Friday afternoon.

Your better off in the grocery blind !
Oh I live by the Willy and mottlet's quote - it's a bloody mary morning. I have a weakness for my homemade recipe or a little zing zang with my eggs after a strong morning shoot.
run me out in the cold rain and snow
