for those that feel justified in Hunting on Sunday, I would like to know how the pastor or preacher of the church you attend feels about the issue?

and for those of you that argue that Sunday is the day of the week man deemed as a Sabath, I would like to know how you keep a Sabath, i.e. what day do you set aside for rest and worship?

well I hunt alot on Sundays b/c we always have in my family but we always make it back to church or if dad has a bunch of customers coming in to hunt for the week we will go to early church and then go to camp to get ready.

This is exactly why I should NEVER, EVER, have engaged in this religious discussion, violating my own general rules. :lol:

And this will be my last comment on this issue and last comment EVER about a religious related issue on the board again.

I am not trying to talk anyone out of going to church. Far from it. I go to church as often as I can. This issue is not about going to chuch. Attending church and hunting on Sunday are NOT mutually exclusive.

The issue, as I recall, is hunting on Sunday. I respect the fact that some of you do not hunt on Sunday for religious reasons. That is fine. You need to do what you think is best for you. Now, I ask that you respect my and others' decision to hunt on Sunday if we so choose, without casting judgement upon those who do.

I wonder how many who do not hunt on Sunday for religious reasons, engage in activities on Sunday that would not be possible if others were not working on Sunday? How many allow their kids to play soccer on Sunday? How many watch tv on Sunday (non-religious programming)? How many engage in activities on Sunday that do not involve church or prayer?

One man's "rest" is another's waste of precious time.

To me, being outdoors in nature, created by God, often brings me much closer to God than being in some fancy church building (or glorified country club) built by man, often times to glorify themselves, as opposed to God. How each man chooses to glorify God, and to keep the Sabbath holy is his own business, and the correctness of that decision is subject to differing interpretations.

Someone quote me the scripture that requires church attendance to properly keep the Sabbath holy. And while at it, find me the scripture that defines a church as a particular type of building. Moreover, where in the scripture does it say that man should not hunt or fish on Sunday? And where does it say that our day of the week entitled "Sunday" is the Sabbath day?

Thats what im talking about mud. Even if you cant make that get outa the blind at 10 go to church for what is usually about 45 mintues (in the small churches around small towns) and then grab some food and head back out for the evening hunt. it all works out. Man its great being Catholic. Dont forget the post hunt beer.

I concur 45 mintues is all you need. Father Harvey could say mass in 30 and I got more out of that 30 mins then most people could get out of going to church all day. :lol:

I did not grow up going to church nor did my family, but I have been going on a regular basis for the past 5-6 years. There are alot of great things to going to church.

But just becuase my family does not go to church does not mean they arn't christians... In my opinion, my family is more religious and more christ like than some of the people I have encountered in church.

Just going to Church does not make you a Christian, it is what you do and how you act outside of Church that makes the difference..

So I do not believe that if you skip church to hunt, you are sinning, nor do I believe you have to go to church to go to heaven...

Hey - just be glad that you have the option to go hunting on Sunday is you get a hankering to. Here in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and in the neighboring states of North Carolina and the People's Republic of Maryland, a working man gets his hunting time cut in half by insanely antiquated blue laws.

Odd story - PETA and various church groups generally don't see eye-to-eye, but in the veins of politics making strange bedfellows, PETA (based on the Virginia coast) and other church groups are equally opposed to the measure that comes on the ballot every year.

Of course, this really means that Sunday is the best day of the week to go hunting, because who would expect it? Got to go out with a bow, though - them guns are just too noisy.

Left field. I should be out there from approx. 9:00am until about 12:30 (approx 30 minutes before kickoff), when we head over to the stadium. I'll have plenty of cold drinks ready for you. Come on by Grommet (and anyone else who plans to be on campus this Sat.).
