Toyota Daytime Running Lights

Postby Chuckle12 » Fri May 19, 2006 3:53 pm

Anybody know how to disable daytime running lights on a new Toyota. My wife got an '05 Sequoia and it's got them. THey are fine during the day, but they stay on at night, even if the regular lights are off. You can't sit at night with the car running without the damn things staying on.

On most mtels Chev.Ford etc you push your park brake down with the key off and then start the engine if you want to stay cool. The lights will not come on till you release the park brake

Instead of parking and trying to be sneaky just go home and then you can turn the lights off with just a flick of the switch

Not as much adventure in that!

I want to disable them for good, I think there is a fuse or relay that will disable them. I know some Tundra's have a wire that you can cut and they will go off. I've found a few things searching on the internet, but haven't had the time to try them yet. Thanks for the replies.

Pull up on the parking brake until it clicks once (while the truck is off). When you start it up they should not be on. Worked on my '02 4-Runner, b4 that dumbazz in Texas ran me over and totaled it.

Maybe turning off the daytime running lights isn't such a good idea after all... :?

I haven't been able to figure this out since I got my 01 Tacoma. You know how hard it is to drive anywhere close to where you think a turkey is roosted when you can't turn off the running lights?
