Just in case some of you hunt more than one state...

east zone and Catahoula Lake:
Nov. 17 - Dec. 2, 2001;
Dec. 8, 2001 - Jan. 20, 2002

west zone:
Nov. 10 - Dec. 2, 2001;
Dec. 15, 2001 - Jan. 20, 2002

youth waterfowl dates:
east zone: Nov. 11-12, 2001
west zone: Nov. 3-4, 2001

Canavasback season dates:
Jan. 1-20, 2002 (Cans can also be taken during the youth hunts)

Well as it exists now its sort of on a line running from southeast to northwest in the state. The line starts around Houma then goes through lafayette, then through Alexandria, and then up through Shreveport and Minden. However, I was under the impression that they were changing the zones starting this season. Last I herd, and I thought it was a done deal, they were gonna make one zone a coastal zone and just have the other zone for the rest of the state, except for the Catahouls Lake zone. This kinda makes more sense to me. I am trying to find out about this zone thing right now. I'll post when I here something.

I hopped over to the La G&F site. The bag is basically the same (in LA) as what ours (MS) was, last year......4 fatheads (2 hens), 1 pintail, etc. That's a good sign!

My understandng of the East/West zone was that all would remain the same except that the costal regions would now be considered part of the east zone instead of the west zone. I don't think that DW&F has that posted yet. Randy did what you look at have the new lines on it?

Dunno, 'just looked like any other line I've ever seen.....didn't find a date on that particular info page, so maybe it could be the 'old' one. 'Don't really matter.....'think it's safe to assume since our camp is 50yds on the inside of the MS river levee, I will be hunting the EAST ZONE.

Everything south of HWY 90 is now part of the west zone.
