Technical pond?
If you could build the perfect pond how big would it be and what would it have in it ? I want to build a tech. pond and I am looking for advise on how to build it. If you have a sketch of a pond or an idea I would like to have it.Thanks for all your advise.

The perfect pond would depend a lot on the area you have to work with. Basically Id want as many points as I could possibly get. Id want the abilty to be able to run from anywhere on it (i.e. be able to get 4 wheelers and trucks all the way around it). I'd want the levees/points whatever to be low enough(or water high enough) I can always see a dog, or if I had some bigger stuff Id have mounds built to run off of. I'd want maxium use of the side the sun would shade in the late mornings... cuase typically in summer I like to run land, then water later morning. if we can run from where we're in shade (and trucks and whutnot) you can run later. Id want little stuff and big... seems like every pond either has a bunch of little stuff, or bunch of big stuff... can ever say Ive ever seen the perfect pond. But Id like to be able to run past 5 points in a 100 yards, and turn 90 degrees and run a 100 yard swim to the first point. Mounds in water & on bank. And islands are always awesome... if you have an islend on your training grounds, and havent hit every part of it, you are missing something way cool. The abilty to manage water level would be huge... go twice as heavy on your spillway as you think, cause thats where most new ponds fail and have to work on for a couple years to get right. a pump for midsummer sure would be cool. Id want trees & buck brush in part of it, but only a small part of it.
Finally I think your pond needs a gate on it with a lock. And I need a key. bwhahaha. travis

pond
I'd place it in a wide open field so that you can run it from a distance with long land entries, use it as part of cheating singles, etc. Put a part in it for swim by also. Wheres it gonna be????????
Oh and don't make the points all the same length. Make it where you can hit one, then miss one.

Take a look at this:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... 008336&t=k
Try clicking on this or pasting this address into your browser. It is a Ark game & fish management area constructed in cooperation with Pin Oak HRC. If it doesnt work, sorry. I'm not much of a computer geek- dont know how to make it a link. Let me know if it worked
