Well guys...as the season ends up here, it is time to go and finally kill some birds. We're heading out right now and hunting in the morning. I'll try to post pics as the days go by. It HAS been real good down there. Let's hope the birds hang out for a few more days!

Hey guys. Good first day. Killed 23, all teal but one. Helluva shoot with a lot of action. We thought we were on the x for the big ducks, but they never came back after we moved them off the field. Saw thousands of Mallards and Pinnies but I still struck out on my elusive Sprig Mount! I had one decent opportunity but whiffed from about 65 yards (hey, I had to take a chance!). I will post pics later!

This afternoon we decided to not go back out and catch up on some sleep. We got about 1 hour last night. We were too excited to get to bed! However, we were able to sit out on some lawn chairs, drink a beer and get a suntan!

You might remember that "BuckeyeHoov" is the gent from "Hia" who schooled us all during the black duck verses mottled duck debate: "Mottled ducks are a Pacific Flyway bird ..."

OK. Maybe I missed from 40 yards, but it sounds a little better the further away it gets. We have been coming down to hunt now for 4 years and had a ball. I get tons of emails from Ohioans asking were we hunt and I will never give it out other than saying the delta. The boys you met from up north that drove down to hunt Matthews never got to hunt it (I know them indirectly). Ended up shooting shovelers on a fish pond (boring). Don't worry. We tell everyone up here to go to Arkansas.

We actually hunt with Micah and his buddies and they come up here and hunt whitetail. I think we both travel to see each other more for the fellowship than anything.

And yes. I admitted I was wrong about the whole black/mottled thing. That being said, a few black ducks were killed where we hunt this year. Those boys were EXCITED!

Anyway, don't ruin my perception of Mississippian's. Every guy we meet down there is nicer than the next. Hell, I even bought an Ole Miss hat at the golf course!

If I knew how to post pics on here I would post the teal pics.[/img]

I don't think that anyone minds out of state hunters except the people that are competing with them for places on public areas. And if those guys value their privacy so much, they need to get off the public grounds, anyway.

That Ole Miss hat you bought doubles as a handicapped tag. Just put it on your dash and you can park right at the front of Wally World!

Trust me. Since nothing but Ohio State gear has touched my head pretty much my whole life, putting a Mississippi anything on my head is a recognition of my appreciation for the state and the people there. I be sure to get a Miss State hat next year.

Btw-we hunt ONLY private land.
