South Carolina?Need some Help.
Considering a move from Louisiana to S.C.-Have hunted ducks all my life,do not want to quit.I am used to hunting in lakes and rivers and swamps here. The area that I will be moving to is the York county area and is known as the Piedmont or the foothills region.I have seen tons of canada geese here but no one around here shows any sign of being duck hunters.I'm not looking for any freebies , just want to know if anyone has any experiance hunting Broad River,Lake Monticelo,Little Pee Dee River or any of the small ponds in this area.At home this would not be a problem but here I don't know if the ducks even visit these areas.Allso if there are any huntable swamps in this region. Any help here would put me in debt.to ya'll as I'm feeling pretty desperate and quite lost.

Hey red-dog if you love to hunt ducks you might want to reconsider your move. Every time I hunt ducks about all I see is SC tags. They aint coming over here for no reason.

I think the entire population of SC is presently scrapping with our Alumnus Benny on the refuge board. I am sure they will return shortly.

Red Dog, I live in the Low Country along the Cooper River. I don't know about York County.Try duckcentral.com the SC page. Hope this helps. There has been more ducks there than here in the past couple of years. Good luck Baldpate

red-dog,
Don't base your move to SC for the ducks. I've lived here all my life and do enjoy duck hunting. I live near the coast and hunt mostly along the Edisto River near Bear Island and numerous private plantations. I get to see large numbers of ducks during the first flight, but that's all high passing birds. We kill a few, but mostly enjoy the time with the dog and in the river. Good luck on your move, I hope you find what you're looking for.
