How many Bands do you have?

Postby Duck Doctor » Fri Dec 02, 2005 5:25 pm

I grew up in the Delta and have been hunting there since 1972. I have been fortunate enough to harvest 10 banded ducks. 8 Mallards, 1 Teal, and 1 Gadwall. Just curious how many bands you have and how many years you have been hunting.

I have fourteen around my lanyard. 11 mallards, 2 wood ducks, and 1 teal. I have been hunting for a real long time, at least 30 years. Harvested must of them in Panola County around Crowder.

I have harvested sixteen banded ducks in my lifetime. Unfortunatley, I left them in the dry box on my four wheeler three years ago and some a hole stole my four wheeler. I would give them my honda just to get those bands back. Had a call on there my parents gave me when I was fifteen years old. Two of the bands came off a greenhead that was double banded. Had a $100 dollar reward on it.

Three since 1974. Got my first one in '92. Two mallards and one woodie. One of the mallards was nine years old.

I only have one band after 34 years of duck hunting and I didn't shoot that duck. It was a hen mallard with a red vine through the opening in the band. She had swam in circles until it was wound tight like a rope. I had trouble cutting it with my knife it was so tight. That poor hen was almost starved to death so I broke her neck. That was about 4 miles south of Crowder, MS (my home town) in 1992.
Just stop and look at that.... now tell me there is no God.
