Polaris Ranger?

Postby big dawg » Tue Nov 15, 2005 9:13 am

Does anybody have an opinion on the Polaris Ranger. This is not a four-wheeler. I was considering one of these, or John Deer Trail Gator, or even a Kabota.

I own a Ranger and as I have said before, for me and how I use it, it is the best piece of equipment I have ever owned. I will say and alot of people that know me will tell you I have never been a Polaris Fan, 4-wheelers, but for the UTV market, the Ranger is everything I need and alot more. I use it at the camp, at the house, and while training dogs, I can haul about anything in the bed and have put 1000 pounds in the bed and did not have a problem, I have pulled a 14 foot fishing boat with it and to me the best part it can ride 3 people and has seat belts for all 3. My wife uses it in the yard and is easy for her to handle, no shifting gears and turns very easy. I test drove every UTV on the market, except the Kubota, before I bought the Ranger and it beat all the others, IMHO, hands down. Give Keith Hindman a call @ Adventure ATV in West Point, he will do you right.

Got a friend at the camp that owns one and it is very nice and powerful. I hunt in the South delta and it goes through the gumbo very well. I like it b/c on cold mornings you dont have the wind blowing in your face. He has a windshield on his. He also got a welder to build a boat rack that sits on the back and goes over the front cab. I would love to have one. Alot of folks like the Rhino, I would go with the ranger over the rhino for the simple fact that you can fit more folks inside it.

the difference between the 04 and 05 model rangers is unbelievible, they have really fine tuned this thing. Always had problems with the kawasaki mule, but my experiences were with the 03 model. In my opinion the rhino is the only utility vehicle that is even in the same class as the ranger, if your objective is not room oriented i would really look at it hard. Sonney and Keith at Adventure atv in west point gave me the best deal by far on the rangers, also have a 6 month 0% deal on financing right now too. Good luck

So none of you would consider the John Deere Trail Gator? I test drove one, but wasn't that crazy about it. The accellerator was so sensitive that it kind of rode rough. Plus it has no roll bars and had bucket seats. I would rather have bench seats with seatbelts.

You want a Great Lawn Mower or Tractor? Buy a John Deere. If you want a UTV, don't buy the GATOR, a couple buddies of mine have Gators and have had them for several years, but they just don't compare to the Ranger or Mule or Rhino. I test drove one before I bought the Ranger and I did not like it at all and I knew it would not hold up to what I had planned for it. There are a couple of things I don't believe in and one is having to work on my "Toys" or having to have someone else do it and the other is washing my truck, what's the point it is going to get dirty anyway when I go back through that big mud hole during hunting season or across the cow pasture when i'm training dogs. I do HAVE it washed twice a year, spring and fall, but I am not even going to have the fall washing this year.
