Has anyone used them to buy a gun? I was looking at a CZ 527 Varmint (mine got stolen about 6 months ago) and they have good prices. Anybody know a willing FFL to ship too? I don't really know how all that works, so any help would be appreciated.

I've used it to sell a gun - but not to buy one. The transaction went smoothly.

Contact pawn shops in your area - most of those guys have their FFL & will charge you a small fee for delivery.

I bought a rifle from somebody on gunbroker a couple years ago. Didn't have any problems at all. You just have to find an ffl holder to fill out a form for you to send the seller, and then the seller ships the gun to the ffl holder, and he does a background check. It would be nice to know somebody that would do it free for you, but if you don't, there should be a listing of dealers that will do it for a fee at the gunbroker site. The going rate was $25 back then. Hasseloff's did it for me, but I think they closed a while back.

The main thing you need to do is find a FFL dealer you trust and make sure they tell you how much they are going to charge for the transaction before you bid. Use to be 20-25 bucks for thier part, but remember they have to fill out all that paperwork and keep up with that junk. Also when you buy your gun make sure you write down the serial number in the auction, just encase either of the dealers are pulling a fast one on you. Never know who you are dealing with these days, but i bought a gun about 3 years ago and went very smootly. Also you can try AuctionArms.com same rules and regulations.

I've used 3 or 4 of them before, never had any problems. Contact Rocky at the Outfitter, should be able to transfer it for you.

Well, I figure by the time I pay for the gun and then add ~$25-30 for shipping and add another $25 for the ffl I am right back where I started (actually above) with the price. I think I'll just go down to Van's (he's the only CZ dealer around) and pay his price, I'll come out cheaper and have the peace of mind of dealing with a local vendor.

Well the thing about those auctions is you have to stay on top of them. They may have 20 auctions or 2 but if the particular gun you are wanting has alot of auctions you bound to find one low. Also check the closed auctions and see what the guns are going for. Thats the best way to figure in cost, you can also email the dealer and ask what shipping would be. Its alot less than you think, you should be able to save about 25% or so.

Chuckle, everyone's giving some good advice. Since there is no listing fee, many FFL's/Pawnshops/Gun Stores list their entire inventory at silly prices creating a storefront situation. True auctions at zero reserve & .01 starting price are slim to none, but they are there. Like you, once I did the math the hassle wasn't worth the few dollars saved or breaking even. However, I have bought and sold a few with no problems.

If a fella can wait months for the right deal, it may be worth it or if it's really hard to find, it's the way to go.

Chuckle,
Hollar at Swan's on old canton. He will probably do the FFL thing for you.

I'm with Deadeye... I have bought 5-6 form this site and everyone went smoothly. You can get some lightly used firearms at great prices. You can also get them sent DIRECTLY to you through the mail or FedEx if the seller is not a dealer - I have done this several times. Plus, gunsamerica.com will take a lower price if you ask them to.
