D Walker, Here in MS 67 x $500 = $33500. The total purse is like $38K. I'm sure they will have more enter though.

I believe the event is closed at 72 now. I don't know many of the dogs running but from what I have read on other boards I am going to pick AFC HRCH Daisy and Pete Marcellus just because she has 3 am wins and is the second youngest HRCH ever from what I understand. Sounds like a dog that should be hard to beat to me! I agree that home field advantage won't play a part in this, I would hate to see a judge set up a blind in an area that I am used to running patterns in, unless they picked the right spot

Daisy is also (I belive) the unoffical youngest 500 point dog in hrc too. I know, cause I beat the offical one (33 months one week) per ukc, then rumors of daisy doing it as 28 MONTHS (and for a bitch that misses tests for coming in heat sometimes, thats incredible) came about. The 2 of them are defiently in my top picks. Never seen her, but from what I have heard, her results don't do her justice, shes that good. travis

my two cents is that only a fool would speculate, we all have favorites but anything can happen to both the dogs and the handles. I plan on soending some time ther but for know I am concentrating on the test this weekend in Alamo. Nash will be running his first finished, and I will also. I believe if I do not screw up he will pass with flying colors!!

All this has got me to thinking about the popularity of the the TV dog games. As popularity grows for these types of events, I wonder if it will affect the HT games or field trials in the way of evolving them into something that is more TV friendly. I for one would watch the whole entire Grand if it was aired but I don't think most would because of the number of dogs and the length of the event. I'm not saying it should or that I would even like to see this but I can't help but wonder what will happen over time. In 10 or 15 years will we give more honor to the dogs that play the TV games? Will you see more of those who just train for these type of events and only run them. It seems to me that that would be the key to winning. It is a fact that more and more companies are selling all types of dog products marketed for working retrievers from launchers to food. This makes for more sponsorship money which really drives these type of events. These companies know that TV time will get folks interested in this type of thing which means a bigger market for them. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of years. I don't think anybody can argue that the TV games are not growing the sport.

Whiteboy has been out there both days but I have not gotten off work early enough to make it. He said Nike was in the lead today. Maybe he will post up and give us some details but he did say they were running some long chit today in the field trial section and alot of dogs were having trouble with it.
