I've seen your frustration with this in your postings. Just want to say good on you and they other guy for taking on this role. You probably won't ever know the impact you'll have on these boy's lives long after they've been under your watch.Wingman wrote:^ this.

Re: Boy Scouts
Lack of parental involvement is the main reason why I left my troop years ago. Too many parents of the current generation view scouts as a babysitting service.Smoke68 wrote:You might be right, but it's a shame that a Boy Scout troop is led by a female. I say this not to demean the leadership ability of this particular female or any in general, but to point out the fact that in so many situations of female leadership where male leadership is preferable (and there are many), the reason is not that the female has pursued it in competition with her male counterparts. The reason is that there are no able and willing males taking the initiative to step up to the plate to lead.NyssaAquatica wrote:DanP wrote:I'm pretty sure the scoutmaster in Greenville is a female. The boy's not going to be irreparably harmed due to the presence of a woman in troop leadership.
Re: Boy Scouts
so, now that hunting season is over, perhaps we can stir up some old discussions to keep this place entertaining....
For 108 years, the Boy Scouts of America's flagship program has been known simply as the Boy Scouts. With girls soon entering the ranks, the group says that iconic name will change. The organization on Wednesday announced a new name for its Boy Scouts program: Scouts BSA. The change will take effect next February.

any thoughts?

Wussification of America is my thought. What in the hell are the girl scouts for. Looking back on things this all starts with the acceptance of gay/liberal agenda in the scouts. My guess is so many have left the organization they are scrapping together anything they can for funding.

Re: Boy Scouts
When all this started with the Scouts letting fags in and stuff, some of us on here called it and predicted this, others failed to see it and were ok with it...well You gotta stand for something or you'll fall for anything.. When moral ground starts slipping away and sinking inch by inch, soon you will have nothing left to stand on. I'm getting tired of these crybaby sh!theads that are offended by everything getting their way and folks caving to them. Only thing I can figure is it's the squeaky wheel phenomenon.

So can boys join Girl Scouts and sell those tasty cookies and will they drop "girl" from their name as well?

Re: Boy Scouts
Do the boys become inherently more "wussy" if there's a girl in their troop? Point out the logic in that.mshunter77 wrote:I think you are 100% correct.peewee wrote:Wussification of America is my thought. What in the hell are the girl scouts for. If anything, it will be good for girls to learn things like woodsmanship and knot tying. Might actually make them less of a wussy.

And there’s the problem.....
Re: Boy Scouts
I’m not particularly picky, but Eagle Scouts are definitely NOT my type.NyssaAquatica wrote:If anything, it will be good for girls to learn things like woodsmanship and knot tying. Might actually make them less of a wussy.

So do they sleep in same tent with 13 yr old boys?? Who wants to be in charge of this and have to monitor every move and decision??? Tying a knot?? I would be far more worried hey would learn far more than what they could earn a badge in with young boys reaching puberty.Who would put their daughter in that situation??? This has law suit written all over it in due time.

Re: Boy Scouts
I don’t think for obvious reasons that the Girl Scouts are at all in support of this. I believe I heard a quote last week from them that pretty much summed them t up. Girl Scout statement was that they could offer so much more to young females in a program that is specifically crafted around them and for them.
I was a scout for a few years and did not finish. I spent many summer as a camper and a few on staff at camp Tallaha in Charleston. I can’t see how mixing genders in this hormonally fueled age range can work out at all. There are too many variables that are beyond the control of the scoutmaster and the troops and national organization are 1 unforeseen incident away from having to close the doors which at this point may not be such a bad thing.
Hate to see this going on.
