Bald Eagles
Bald Eagles
Anyone else notice more eagles lately? I saw 3 separate bald eagles this weekend. It was quite impressive.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

Re: Bald Eagles
I've been seeing a pair just north of Minter City all year.
Re: Bald Eagles
we had 2 juvies and an adult using our #1 hole towards the end of last season...no choice (legal, other than observation), but to pack up & leave 'em be. It was a favorite place to bring wounded snows to devour, leaving a white layer of feathers from one end of the hole to the other!

Bald eagles can ruin a duck hunt. Waterfowl understands that danger and reacts to it. They leave.

Re: Bald Eagles
I was surprised that the juvenile we saw was sitting in a tree with better than a dozen mallards on the water under him.
But, the first one I saw Saturday was hot on a hen mallards tail till she was able to loose him in some trees.

Yep, impressive indeed. The first one I ever saw in the wild was 2012. It was in the field as you drive towards our camp & even though it was a couple of hundred yards away & I had never seen one, it was obvious what it was!teul2 wrote:Anyone else notice more eagles lately? The next couple of seasons I didn't see him or any others, but last year, like Cal said, we had at least three that were regulars. I’ve yet to spot the nest so not sure it’s on us.
I am mesmerized every time see them!
We do have a pair that live below the levee of Lake Caroline. The nest is gigantic!

Re: Bald Eagles
These are the only ones that I've seen in person. My inlaws live out there so we were able to see them a few times last year. Very cool to see! Was curious if they were still around there.eSJay wrote:We do have a pair that live below the levee of Lake Caroline. The nest is gigantic!

Re: Bald Eagles
Two have a nest across from my house. Have seen them fishing the catfish ponds, over there, for several years.

There are two breeding pairs at Trace Lake in Pontotoc County. See them frequently fishing there.

Did you soak it over night like that guy told you to draw some of the gamey flavor out of it?
Re: Bald Eagles
Cooked it as is. Tastes just like California Condor.chevy01234 wrote:teul2 wrote:I was surprised that the juvenile I shot was sitting in a tree with better than a dozen mallards on the water under him.

Used to be a pair that nested about 200m from the west end of Mcintyre from the mid 90s to the mid 00s.
