Texas Rigs and long hikes
Texas Rigs and long hikes
How are you guys toting your texas rigged decoys? I have some public spots that require a good hike, and would like to be somewhat comfortable hauling a few dozen among the group. Bag em? No bag? Other ideas?
Re: Texas Rigs and long hikes
Cabelas has a texas rig decoy bag on sale for $50. Has pretty good reviews. If I have long walks I don't haul texas rigs, just take my standard decoys.ShotgunSP wrote:How are you guys toting your texas rigged decoys? My remote deep slough setup,$.02....
Breathable waders, 4 old mallet flambeau decoy(1 drake, 3 hens, the sex card) w/simple smooth lead anchors(wont hang up) in net laundry bag, the regular stuff in a back pack from calls, ammo, gloves, viennas, etc. Movement kicking water no jerk rig, tried that, trouble. Navigate w/ iPhone back up w/compass lil gps. But the key item is the telescopic spin rod to get the decoys back...most of the time . Dog gets the duck rod gets the decoys...Spinnerbait fishing on slow days. Oh, put rebar in water keels so they land right; real pain when they don't. And orange vest for you and dog, lotta idiots in the woods nowadays...

Jet sled. Y'all can probably pile all your gear in one, throw a cover over it to keep it from falling out. Take turns dragging.

+1 for the jet sled. Mine holds dog stand, decoys, and blind bag with a bungee strap.

In case anyone was wondering, you CAN get a Jet Sled and a telescopic fishing rod via Amazon Prime.
Good stuff, keep it coming.

Re: Texas Rigs and long hikes
i've got an beavertail decoy sled that has a cinchable cover and holds 6 doz regular decoys worth of "stuff".
*forewarning: it doesn't do well on sticky gumbo...most all other surfaces, it slides fairly effortless and can be towed behind 4wheeler.

Re: Texas Rigs and long hikes
I just throw my texas rigs in a regular mesh decoy bag. X1000 on the Jet Sled.
