I saw very few ducks flying, mostly woodies. Maybe 40-50 mallards if that. They only flew for about 15 minutes and then everything shut down. Did not see a single duck from 7:15 to 8:15 and packed up. :(

Ducks quit flying in gale force winds when they smell salt air.

I saw plenty in Tally and around Charleston, mostly in brakes or timber and otherwise out of the wind. .
So many ducks, so little time....

Well I was in green timber where I hang out in the South Delta. Saw a handful of mallards dip in right at shooting time, then nothing . . . nothing . . . nothing. Rode part of the Ms. river levee Saturday before dark from Shipland down and did not see any ducks flying or more than a couple handfuls loafing.

You couldn't have hand-picked better conditions - late in the season. 22 degrees, hardly any ice, North wind 5-10 mph (was 15-20 about 5:30 am), blue skies, moon was close to full but low, and I was in flooded green timber. There were soo many acorns falling, you had to be lucky not to get hit in the head. But I was skunked for the weekend.

GC, I'm glad you saw some, but there wasn't hardly no ducks in the parts of the South Delt I was able to see.

Saturday, especially that afternoon we were loaded with ducks. The high winds kept them moving all day long. Steel shot does not travel in 40 mph wind.

Sunday morning we were iced up, and the ducks did not move. Any open water, they were wing-to-wing.

Sunday afternoon, they moved a little to the fields to feed. But they pretty much stayed put.

Hunted Saturday and Sunday. Saw quite a few Saturday. Sunday was very slow and did not see very many. We managed to kill 15 or so, but it was very slow and did not have the opportunity to kill many more. Talked to a guy in our lease that hunted this morning and he went to the same spot and says that he did not fire a shot. Maybe they will return by the weekend.

Tons of geese moving around Inverness, yesterday. Two Canadains flew in front of the wrong cold barrels.
The big ducks that we did see would not give the dekes a second look.
Did kill three blue winged teal. Shouldn't they already be in Mexico by now?

had a poor hunt Friday. Had an awesome day Saturday with greenheads, pintails, and teal. Saw thousands of ducks and couldn't wait until Sunday morning. Saw 1 single right at legal time and wasted another hour watching doves and blackbirds then left. Sunday pretty much sucked.
