wood ducks...?
All of my wood ducks holes came up dry this year. I had 2 or 3 holes where you would see 200 to 300 woodies a morning. Hunted one hole and saw 3 and another saw maybe 75 fly bys and nothing worked my hole.

I hunt a couple of places that are in close proximity to the MS River (north of Vicksburg and east of Tallulah) that usually hold a lot of wood ducks, but I have hardly seen any this year. An older hunter I know says in years when the river gets up the wood ducks bug out and get in the backwater on the river. It sounds like a good theory to me. I know my spot off the Pearl River North of Jackson is still holding lots of woodies. I sure od wish more were in the other two places since the mallards and gadwalls aren't being cooperative this year.
We have tons of them at our camp near Carthage. Not a problem killing a limit before Xmas this year. After that cold snap there are not as many. But we still have enough to make it entertaining. Also seeing a good many on the RBR.

If any of you fellas know of a good summertime woodie roost in Quitman county, we are trying to band some to help fill the quota for SB. It might one day lead to an extra wood duck in the bag.
I was with him last summer on DNF and we banded 58 in one pop.
