College World Series - scholarships........
he with the most scholarships....wins again. Vandy and Virginia both have unlimited scolarships in baseball......basically 35......and played in NC the last two NC Games. Coincidence, I don't think so Wonder how they would do if they were knocked back to 11.7?
Re: College World Series - scholarships........
Even LSU fans are quietly mumbling about it being unfair. Serious.

Why do they have unlimited scholarships?
Prolly been discussed but I really don't know. They are both really really good.

Re: College World Series - scholarships........
Private institutions do not have to report any $$$ spent on athletics and can use money for scholarships in any way they so choose. Plus it probably costs 8-10 times more to attend Vandy a year vs say Miss State, Ole Miss, etc.

I don't know why. They get any player they want, just like they do in football.stang67 wrote:Even LSU fans are quietly mumbling about it being unfair. Serious.

That makes sense, unfortunately. Can't blame them but you can tell on the field.

Re: College World Series - scholarships........
TOPS is nothing but an academic scholarship, just like HOPE. Any student can get it. If you maintain your gpa, you keep it. Same goes for academic scholarships available anywhere, same as at Miss State and Ole Miss. You recruit smart kids, plain and simple. Miss State has a frosh pitcher signee coming in next season on academic scholarship for the first year. Cohen didn't have any baseball % to offer him.stang67 wrote:thanks to TOPS
As for UVA, you can thank John Grisham for the boost that got them started.
Re: College World Series - scholarships........
You have me curious now. Post up the dollar amounts and req'ts for MTAG and TOPS.
Re: College World Series - scholarships........

Re: College World Series - scholarships........
TOPS has four levels, with three—Opportunity, Performance and Honors—primarily applying to students at four-year universities. Those three levels are differentiated by ACT scores of 20, 23 and 27, respectively. They all do, however, cover full tuition, plus a stipend at the top two levels. The Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance places the value of an Opportunity award for the past year at LSU at $6,464, while the university estimated total in-state tuition and fees for that year to be $8,758.
Re: College World Series - scholarships........
I can tell you that a Kid at Ole Miss with a 26 act and 3.9 GPA in high school will not have tuiton covered by Mississippi scholarships.
