Also, reading Cowart has not sent in official letter to Auburn yet.
And LSU got another Australian punter.
Recruiting is crazy.

Ole Miss didn't send LOI because of the last weekend drama, I guess they just decided best to move along...they did flip of Pitt linebacker committment today, writing the wall that they moved on after last Friday drama

Re: Signing Day
Crazy Day...I am actually proud of the LSU staff (a rarity for me these days). A month ago, LSU had 15 commits and no defensive coordinator after losing Chavis to in-division rival, Texas A&M. Then, LSU was ranked about #15 nationally on the 247 composite. Today, LSU has 25 commits, and is ranked #5 on the 247 composite, with only Bama and UTenn ranked ahead of them in conference.
Next year the state of Louisiana is LOADED with talent (this was a down year in LA). LSU will hopefully make a push for three consecutive Top 5 recruiting classes (#2 last year on the composite).
OM and MSU continue to do well, both finishing with Top 20 classes - considering they have to compete against one another for so many players, that is really amazing.
Sidebar: Was listening to Head to Head yesterday on ride home from work. Richard Cross made a really curious comment about how SEC recruiting has really changed (when talking about the recruitment of Leo Lewis in particular). He went on to say that since the NCAA did nothing to Auburn in the Cam Newton saga, that everything was different. Without saying it, he basically said that the SEC schools are essentially bidding on players. Mind you, this is a guy that is a sideline reporter during OM football games - I would imagine he knows some things we don't know.
That said, and in view of a comment made above by a poster, I too have heard about a bid war for Leo Lewis, not on a message board, but from a guy that I consider to be very credible that works for LSUs Athletic Department.

So OMU backed off. So if LL had posted a pic on Instagram yesterday of 30 missed calls from Freeze, that would mean ??? Probably a complete fabrication... Very weird, indeed.
I'm out, so long as I don't have to defend anymore personal attacks, just had to call you on your sour grapes comment. No pissing match intended. Have a great week!

I don't think OM "backed off" but I do think they wrote it off after last weekend and ultimately didn't bother even sending the papers...which was the intent of my post...kinda why I said "NO they didn't" in first sentence of my response to your saying OM backed off...

Re: Signing Day
Rebels signed a very good class today, whether we get Van Jefferson or not. Addressed several need areas for potential immediate impact and for future. Except for Lewis and Richmond, not a lot of unnecessary drama this year. There are some players in this class not getting talked about much, because they aren't drama queens, who are going to surprise many in the future.
And we have such a nice head start for 2016 class committed so far, that the future looks bright. I like the upward trajectory that we are still on with Freeze in terms of total wins per season and recruiting.
I am pleased enough to say this to all my fellow Rebels here: smoke em' if ya got em'. I will be enjoying a celebratory cigar and drink or two this evening.

Ole Miss did not, the Drew Richmond and Leo Lewis things were ugly on OM coaches part no doubt, but Ole Miss hit a Homerun in their early signees and overall class ain't bad....
I don't know much at all about who MSU signed, but I seen Lewis and Peters both doubled signed, there is obviously still chance they get eligible but that sucks to wait and see on your two biggest recruits.
I don't know what I think about the bidding stuff....personally I can not see WHY State or Ole Miss would pay for anyone unless they were guaranteed eligible player at a impact position, so the Lewis bidding war doesn't add up to me. I think Lewis knew he was going to MSU way back on his visit after he de-committed from Bama. I don't understand his commitment to Ole Miss as I don't think he has ever planned to come to Ole Miss, based on what I've read over past week. I think he used the LSU visit as a chance to de-commitment while away from pressure of OM coaches.
UCLA won the day from what I've seen....

Freeze is doing a really good job of building a sustainable program. He addresses needs through recruiting and coaches them up once they are on campus. Though I am not an OM fan, I do admire the job he is doing.
That said, I do think that losing out of the Richmond kid will cost OM this fall. This is OMs money year from the ability to win the west because they have a number of potential first rounders that are juniors that will leave after this fall. It seems, from the outside looking in, that the main two issue OM had this year was a shaky offensive line and lack of a big back. Richmond would have really helped on the O-line. That was a big, big loss IMO.
Re: Signing Day
Richmond would have played behind Tunsil this year and taken over in fall of 16 as the staring LT...so it will hurt more after this year when Laremy Tunsil goes to the draft and we either have to go to a true freshman LT or move a player not a natural LT.Deltamud77 wrote:Van Jefferson signed with OM.Po Monkey Lounger wrote:Rebels signed a very good class today, whether we get Van Jefferson or not. Freeze is signing the crap out of highly rated WR's. Let's hope the 3 OL he signed can somehow help get our line SEC ready.

Re: Signing Day
While I hate to miss out on any recruit that our staff wanted, I am not convinced that Richmond is an immediate impact type of player at the SEC level. I viewed him as a solid OL prospect who could develop into a two-deep SEC quality OL in 2-3 years. IMO, he is not a Laremy Tunsil.
For example, I think that Austrian Robinson is as good of an OT prospect as Richmond. And who says that Patterson or Rod Taylor can't play at OT? Or Liggins( he will likely be moved there this spring)?
We have a good bit of time until the 2016 season to find a replacement for Tunsil ( and that assumes that Tunsil goes pro after his junior year) ---- either an existing roster player steps up (most likely), or we sign a juco, transfer, or immediate impact frosh between now and then. At this point in time, I am not worried.
