SEC WEST
The Southeastern Conference has reached a new milestone in The Associated Press college football poll, becoming the first league to place four teams in the top five -- all from the western division.
Associated Press Top 10
The SEC Western Division race carries huge national implications as four teams currently reside in the top five of the AP Poll.
Complete poll | Power rankings
1. Miss. St. 6. Oregon
2. Florida St. 7. Notre Dame
3. Ole Miss 8. Michigan St.
4. Alabama 9. Georgia
5. Auburn 10. TCU
That most definitely is a pretty impressive stat. I just hope my team can stay focused and take care of business the remainder of the season!

I am interested in purchasing duck calls that were made by Mike McLemore. I am a family member and they have a sentimental value.
Re: SEC WEST
Hard to believe Georgia is only #9, they seem to be playing pretty impressive ball themselves right now.
Interesting thing will be to see how this shakes out in the playoffs, can the SEC get 2 teams in?

Re: SEC WEST
Lot of scenarios to play out but yes there should be 2 west teams in the playoff. Either msu and ole miss or msu and bama etcetc. All hinges on the winners of those big games coming up. If Georgia wins sec championship then that could fudge things up for the west getting two teams in. At this point the nation sees the sec west is the best conference in the nation and should count for some big votes when playoffs are considered.RedEyed Duck wrote:Is it possible that 2 SEC West teams make it?Jeff wrote:Interesting thing will be to see how this shakes out in the playoffs, can the SEC get 2 teams in?

I feel the only way State or Ole Miss gets in is that they run the table. I have seen to many times where State or OM would stay at home and a lesser top tier team would get the bowl game. I have no faith in a committee voting either of the two schools into the playoffs. The only scenario I see for a sure thing is Ole Miss or State winning out then they are in or Alabama running the table then they are in. There is no way a one loss Mississippi team gets in over a one loss Notre Dame is all about the money in the long run.

Re: SEC WEST
Sadly this could very well happen. Say Bama loses one more and State/ole miss run the table with one team obviously having to lose to the other. If it is a tight close game I would say both would deserve to make the playoff.bustercat64 wrote:I feel the only way State or Ole Miss gets in is that they run the table. Re: SEC WEST
There are obviously so many scenarios that there is no way to consider them all. The only way that I see BAMA getting into the playoff (baring way more chaos that I can comprehend at this point) is for them to win out!!! They don't go with a 2nd loss, no way no how, unless said chaos happens. If Ole Miss wins out and beats GA, then you have to put them in the playoff. If Miss St wins out and beats GA, then you have to put them in the playoff. If Miss State wins out and goes, then BAMA's out. If Ole Miss wins out and goes, it somewhat helps BAMA's case as their only loss was to an undefeated team who is in the top 5 in the nation.
If Ole Miss has 2 losses and BAMA somehow gets to the SEC Championship game and beats GA, then BAMA would likely go and a one loss Miss State could possibly go in that situation, as they would have a few weeks to bounce back from a loss to BAMA. Lots of "What ifs" at this point. I just hope the Tide takes it one game at a time and takes care of their business from here on out.
Here's what I am sure of at this point. I will be there in Tuscaloosa with my daughters, mom and one of my sisters to watch the Tide play both Miss St. and Auburn

I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see two SEC teams getting in.Jeff wrote:Hard to believe Georgia is only #9, they seem to be playing pretty impressive ball themselves right now.

The selection committee thing is going to be very political in my opinion. There will be tremendous pressure inside and out to put conference champs into the playoff regardless of the polls. Remember the committee makes their own rankings using their own formula so the top 4 in the AP & USA will not necessarily be in line with the committee's top 4. I think that if Mich. State & Oregon win out and win their conference championship game, they will be in. Both would be ranked in the top 6 in the polls somewhere, and the committee would be hard pressed not to include them, even if a second SEC team is higher ranked. At minimum there would have to be a clear reason to select a second SEC school. The way the committee is stacked up I don't see that happening. Now that Archie has stepped down, we only have one "rep" on the committee. Not that Archie represented the SEC, but.....................

Re: SEC WEST
Keep leaving Auburn out of the conversation, there is still a lot of football left to play both in and out of the state of MS. Ain't all these egg hatched yet egg bowlers.

Re: SEC WEST
Idk how many of us are counting their chicks before they hatch, but those that are need to focus on the task at hand. You're absolutely correct about Auburn too. I hope they win at least TWO more games myself.Hole Hunter wrote:Keep leaving Auburn out of the conversation, there is still a lot of football left to play both in and out of the state of MS. At this moment I'm actually an Auburn fan I dislike Ole Miss and Alabama and hope you bet both.Hole Hunter wrote:Keep leaving Auburn out of the conversation, there is still a lot of football left to play both in and out of the state of MS. Ain't all these egg hatched yet egg bowlers.
Re: SEC WEST
Right now, besides their own fan bases no two teams should be behind the other team's bench like MSU and Auburn. War Eagle and Hail State!bustercat64 wrote:At this moment I'm actually an Auburn fan I dislike Ole Miss and Alabama and hope you bet both.Hole Hunter wrote:Keep leaving Auburn out of the conversation, there is still a lot of football left to play both in and out of the state of MS. Likewise Alabama and Ole Miss should be rooting for each other. IMO, if two west teams make it, it will be one of those pairs.

Y'all remember when people were against a playoff cause the regular season would be irrelevant
