something eating deer carcass
something eating deer carcass
I shot a cull buck last week and looked for it, but didnt find any blood and couldn't find it, and have to leave to come home that night. I also thought I saw the same deer later in the evening after I shot, so I thought I had just missed. Anyway, went back yesterday just to look in daylight and he was laying about 50 yards past where I had stopped looking. The deer had been partially eaten, but was covered with leaves that had been raked onto the carcass. Am I wrong in thinking that is something that you normally associate with cats and bears? Coyotes don't do that do they? I am by delta national so I know there are bears in the area.... was just curious.

+1 Bobcat, they will try and cover their food and come back later to finish eating it.
If you can't hunt it with a dog, I don't want to hunt it..........

Probably a bobcat. We hunt between Vaughan and Benton and have had the exact thing happen. As far as I know there has never been a bear sighting anywhere around there. Too much open ground, but there are plenty of bobcats and some that are REALLY big!

Bobcat.. scene it and all the old guys confirm..
Re: something eating deer carcass
Definitely bobcat. We had the same thing happen, uncovered the carcass, put a camera on the scene and next day had the photographic proof of the cat covering the carcass with leaves.
