ADS: New cell phone

Postby pharville » Mon Dec 16, 2013 7:31 am

My Iphone 4s has decided to not work quite right now. Things such as the lock button on top won't work anymore and dials people randomly from time to time. Anyways I am due an upgrade so I guess it's time to go get another one. Should I go ahead and get the 5s or is there something else out there I should be looking at?

Thanks for your input,

PJ

I bought a new iPhone 5 in February. I have never experienced so much frustration with dropped calls in my life.

I will never buy another iPhone (or apple product) again.

I upgraded a few months ago from an iphone 4 and I decided to go with the galaxy S4. I really like it my self. Operating system is different and can be a little confusing (doesnt seem quite as streamlined as IOS).

The thing that won me over to the Samsung was the screen size and the better camera. The screen on my phone is bigger than the entire iphone 5.

I would still get the samsung if I had it to do over again but I have alot of friends that have the i5 and they like it.

Couple issues with the iPhone that frustrate me are the storage and the apple store. The samsung you can buy a 16gb sd card or a 34gb card without having to buy a $600 new phone with more storage. The apple store in itself stresses me out with 50-11 people running around with iPads passing you off to 5 different people before you talk to somebody about your phone. Then there is this "cloud" somewhere that all your personal stuff is on. Rant Over..

For someone that uses computers a lot and is fairly tech savvy.......Iphone 5S is the way to go. For apple products to work correctly, you have to make sure you are consistently syncing and updating. If you don't plan on doing that....go with the Samsung. I've had all types of phones and won't buy anything but an Iphone. The new 5S has probably the best camera on the market and has a lightning fast processor.

You had some weird glitch or defect. They would have replaced it had you gone to your phone store. When they new 5 first came out.......there were antenna issues. They quickly replaced it and the problems went away. Dropped calls are also usually a service issue and usually not the phone itself. Are you with CSpire?

Oh, they replaced my phone along the way. Same issues. The phone routinely drops calls in several areas along my route. My older galaxy was much more reliable in these same areas than this iPhone is. I am convinced that the iPhone is not intended to be used as a telephone outside of large metropolitan areas.

It will even occasionally drop calls on major 4 lane hwy/interstate. Mainly drops calls on more rural two lane state highways.

This is not a quality telephone.

I bought an iphone 5 in July and have been very pleased. I used it fishing marshes in LA and was surprised that I could look at the weather and google maps while on the water. I switch from Cspire to Verizon though. Cspire is not a fan of prolonged plan usage outside of MS so we parted ways.

I have the Samsung S3 and love it. Large screen, expandable memory and great camera. I hated how iphones didn't have a "menu/settings" button or a back. Samsung has the setting, home and back buttons that makes navigation much easier.

Voice to text is really nice as well for texts and longer emails.

I have an iPhone 5 and hate it.... Bought mine in February ,
The call quality is piss poor people can barely hear me , I can be standing next to someone (shoulder to shoulder) and not have signal but the person next to me (same carrier) does...
My speaker phone only works 50% of the time
Half the time it wants to lock up... Even after I go in and turn off apps in the background...

My old droid, even with a virus worked better

I just picked up a iPhone 5c on Black Friday because my iPhone 4 was dying. Been very happy with it so far with zero issues. Plus you can get a 32gb 5c for the same price as a 16gb 5s. Compared to the 4s the 5c will be much faster

I've got the iPhone 5 and love it

Don't like the storage issue and wigs it were a lil bigger display but other than that I love it

Nothing's perfect but since I've gotten used to it I'll never go back to android and all it's crashing

I am with cspire and have great service all over the state

+1 on this one. I love my S3. Mainly because of the screen size. Why get an IPhone and an IPad, when the S3 is large enough to do what an IPad does, while still being small enough to do what an IPhone does?
