Awesome Hunt

Postby littlesmacko89 » Wed Dec 18, 2013 9:36 pm

Well here's the story......Monday night I went texting some guys trying to get together with some guys cause I don't like hunting by myself for safety reasons. Well I texted a guy and he said he would get back with me at 3pm but never did. I saw some of my buddies earlier and he said I was more than welcome to come. We met up bout 1130 that night and went and stayed the night at about 1 to be there early since its public land. Well low and behold some more people guys came in right before you could enter the area. If you two guys are on here sorry but I'm throwing yall out there. They came up to us and asked where we were going to be going that morning since we were there before them. Well we told them. While we were talking to them one of our guys left and went to the spot. Well they left before us and proceeded to their spot which they said was "500 to 600 yards" away. Well we loaded up decoys and everything. Started our luxury walk to the hole. Got there well before daylight and set up. Our guy that left first said they came to our spot. Well he let them walk all the way to see if they were coming to our hole for the morning and sure enough they tried and were upset obviously cause they couldn't understand how we had a guy there already. Well they left and proceeded to their hole and we arrived and set decoys out etc. Daylight started and ducks were flying but mainly woodies and few mallards/gadwalls. We were doing few calling and such well when the other guys tore out calling it was only about 100-150 yards away. Well we were like wth of course but didn't let us get down. Well we had our first group come in and it was 2 drakes and a suzie. Got them down and then saw other guys decoys and dove in to their. BOOM BOOM BOOM. One duck came out and circled us and came in and we got him.......well hunt went on and got really good....got to the point we were calling and shooting and the other guys weren't getting a thing. We had a bigger spread I guess cause 5 guys toting decoys and mojos in compared to 2. Well about 8am the 2 guys left cause they realized they were in the wrong spot so I'm guessing to flare ducks off they took their shirts off and walked out. After they left the hunt got even better cause while they were there they would hear us working some ducks and would cough and talk really loud and flare the ducks out. Well needless to say about 10 we had a 5 man limit with a big mixed bag.

overall the best hunt I've been on so far

10 mallards, 13 gadwalls, 4 spoonies, 2 wood ducks, 1 redhead

For the people that hunt public grounds the picture with the car and gate tells it all. You could have left that one out! Instead of having issues with two people now its gonna be ten. When taking pictures and posting, just think about your surroundings and background. I don't hunt public ground very much, but once upon a time I did. Just trying to help you out some. Glad you had a great hunt and were polite.

Yup. I know exactly where they were.

attaboy. nice hunt
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

Though I do not duck hunt at the particular spot in picture, I do know exactly where it is and would not be happy aboout the "informative" photo if I were duck hunting the area. I do hunt there during a different season.
Are we gonna get wet?

Naw no one got smacked with a boat paddle and yes the picture does show where I'm at but the actually spot u got to work to get to.....public land is just that public....plots there are numerous spots out there.....I'm not worried about cause we didn't kill these cause it was easy to get to....we deserved this cause we found where the ducks wanted to be so they can go but ain't find them unless they in shape to carry enough decoys to get their attention.....happy hunting :o

What I am saying, and I think what Lodi is saying is that, I know exactly what tree in the woods you were hiding behind from your pictures. And we can't be the only 2.
I am taking down your 3rd picture with the gate as this whole thread borders on breaking the public land policy.
