That is the only reason I picked LSU...because they are relatively healthy. I think Ole Miss at home is a tough win for anyone because Freeze has them playing their balls off over and above their ability. If the LSU defense of the last 6 quarters shows up, I just don't see how Ole Miss wins. I have been wrong many times before though, so who knows.mshunter77 wrote:Ole miss was lucky and avoided major injuries last year and did not show their lack of depth. The injuries have caught up with them this year as has the lack of depth. Any team would struggle with that many people out even the ones with good depth, look at UGA.

Re: LSU v Ole Miss Prediction Thread
Just a hunch, but I am predicting that the full moon Saturday night has some of the Ole Miss wounded, and those thought to be "dead", rising up from the "grave" to play hard against LSU.

Bird Bryant said he was playing this weekend. Freeze said it was up to him. Issac Gross is also supposed to be a game-time decision. Like much of last year. We REALLY need CJ back.ScottyLee wrote:yes, add mike hilton, sedarious bryant, Temario Strong, Chief Brown, Issac Gross to that list as well.Deltamud77 wrote:I heard Freeze said Jeff Scott, Brunetti, Nkimdeche and 3 or 4 more are no goes this weekend. Is that true?
also not 100% but think you can count out cj johnson.
this game has the potential to get ugly. we have no depth at all past a starter now on D.
Robert Nkemdiche is out 3-4 games with the hamstring. Losing Hilton hurts as well, he's been playing fantastic.
EDIT: From Freeze himself.
Injuries from TAMU game:
Linebacker Serderius Bryant - Concussion, day-to-day
Defensive end Robert Nkemdiche - Hamstring, will not play against LSU
Linebacker/Defensive End Temario Strong - I can't find specifics on his injury, but he is doubtful to play
Halfback Jeff Scott - Thigh bruise, questionable
Defensive Back Mike Hilton - Hamstring, "not probable" to play
Defensive Tackle Issac Gross - Shoulder, "will try" to play this weekend
Quarterback Barry Brunetti - Shoulder, will play, but is not at 100%
Safety Chief Brown - Injury specifics unknown, but will likely play
Injured before TAMU game:
Defensive end C.J. Johnson - Lingering ankle issue, "probably not" going to play
Defensive end Carlos Thompson - Unspecific injury, "definitely" out against LSU
Offensive guard Aaron Morris - Torn ACL, out for season

Re: LSU v Ole Miss Prediction Thread
Our defensive lineup for the LSU game was going to look different than the previous two games, even without the injuries. We will be going with our bigger lineup to stop the run. Most of the guys needed to do that are ready to rumble. We get cb Carlos Davis back this week, who was suspended for the first 6 games. That will help our special teams coverage units and provide extra quality depth at corner.
The offense is, for the most part injury free, and ready to go. Both Brunetti and Scott will likely play. They are resting Scott in practice to get him healed and keep him fresh.
Yeah, we have a few guys out, but so does everyone else at this point in the season. The Rebels will be ready. There will be no excuses.

In my opinion, we need to be rotating Mathers and Scott 50/50 anyways.Po Monkey Lounger wrote:Our defensive lineup for the LSU game was going to look different than the previous two games, even without the injuries. Re: LSU v Ole Miss Prediction Thread
CJ Johnson having surgery on his foot. Out for rest of season. Will qualify for medical redshirt, giving him two more years of eligibility.
The Rebs have a RB and return game plan "with Scott" and "without". I still think he will be dressed out and ready to play in spots, as needed. We will primarily go with Mathers and Walton at RB, and Korvic Neat as the return guy ( scares me) if Scott not available. Hopefully, Scott can at least handle punt returns.

Probably have Kailo or Walton return punts. Neat doesn't need too.Po Monkey Lounger wrote:CJ Johnson having surgery on his foot. Out for rest of season. Will qualify for medical redshirt, giving him two more years of eligibility.

Po Monk-your magical "undefeated" gumbo worked! I'm gonna need you to whip up a few batches for the next few State games.
Congrats to the rebel fan base. I don't like them, but your boys played a hell of a ball game.

Re: LSU v Ole Miss Prediction Thread
Well, looks like my prediction was wrong, and as bad as I hate to say I they played a good game even though they tried to give it away. Donia, it's a good thing we were'nt playing cause it would've have been some patsy non conf and it would have been us losing instead of upsetting somebody. It's been so long since State upset somebody I have forgotten how it feels.
work hard, play hard
