Food Plot Blends

I went by Specialty Seed yesterday to pick up some stuff. They were mixing their MS Blend of wheat, oats, crimson clover and arrowleaf clover. The wheat and oats are grown right there by a MS farmer. Pretty interesting to watch it done and know exactly what is in each bag.

There is a lot of good blends out there but I would suggest checking out Wildwood's products. Wildwood is owned by Sanders (distributor of crop products). Theynhave Super plot and Super plot Plus great mixes. You can find A Sanders location in most farming communities. I work for a manufactor of crop protection products, herbicides & insecticides, I am also a Nationaly Certified Crop Consultant. I use both of these blends. Do to price I buy both and mix them, the Super Plot Plus is expensive that is why I mix the two mixes. You can look up Wildwood online.

Isn't the only difference between Super Plot Plus and regular Super Plot is the Rape and winter peas?

Saw a good one advertised the other day. 50 lb bag consisted of:

40% Wheat which is 20 lbs
20% Cereal Rye @ 10 lbs
20% Oats @ 10 lbs
14% Austrian Winter Pea @ 7 lbs
2% Crimson Clover @ 1lb
2% Ladino White Clover @ 1lb
2% Brasssicas @ 1 lb

That is a pretty good mix. Advertised as 1.5 - 2 bag/acre rate.

I personally like to plant clover plots as a monoculture and then have annual cool season grass plots (oats/wheat) to themselves. Only way to manage clover really.

I like to keep clover separate as well. I wouldn't want to plant a white clover with a red clover either.

I planted my blend first year and now have solid arrow leaf in that spot.
