Food Plot Blends
Anyone used a good blend they recommend? I was looking at some stuff at Wal Mart today but most where just 80 to 95 percent oats with less then 1 percent clover and stuff like that for 25 bucks a bag. And oats at a farmers supply are about the cheapest thing you can buy. I saw one can't remember who made it but it was called Bowhunters blend looked like it had more in it then the others I saw. Let me know what you guys like!

Nevermind I googled it. Looks good think i'll try it. Do you guys ever do soil samples? I never have and want to try and do it right this year. And what fertilizer do you use with it?yourmanwm75 wrote:What all is in it?huntsober wrote:Super Plot Plus from Sanders Seed...thank me later.
Re: Food Plot Blends
Cheap insurance compaired to the cost of planting. Adding it all up its close to $125 per ac. Fuel seed fertilizer round up.....I bush hog old plot, round up, burn, disk, harrow, plant, fertilize then cultipack, ....Time is not in the price. So yes soil sample...

Re: Food Plot Blends
Going to wait a few weeks but I want to get my stuff disc and get my lime out. To dry and hot right now even if I wanted to plant.
Re: Food Plot Blends
I am waiting too. Having the army worms clean me out one year has taught me to wait. I watched them eat plots by the hour once. This forced me to replant...very costly. So I wait till the first cool snap and when there is rain coming. I will have the plots ready to plant....seed and fertilizer on the trailer, tractors fueled up and ready to go watching the weather everyday. When a rain is coming I plant hours before or during the rain. Having that seed cook for weeks with no rain keeps me up at night.

There is a lot of good blends out there but I would suggest checking out Wildwood's products. Wildwood is owned by Sanders (distributor of crop products). Theynhave Super plot and Super plot Plus great mixes. You can find A Sanders location in most farming communities. I work for a manufactor of crop protection products, herbicides & insecticides, I am also a Nationaly Certified Crop Consultant. I use both of these blends. Do to price I buy both and mix them, the Super Plot Plus is expensive that is why I mix the two mixes. You can look up Wildwood online.

Re: Food Plot Blends
Super Plot Plus by wildwood genetics has worked the best for us. If I remember right, it has wheat, oats, elbon rye, winter peas, ladino clover, crimson clover, and rape. Another good one is MS Complete. It has wheat, oats, crimson and arrowleaf clover.
