We've got a place up here in hill country that still sells it for .99 cents a bag. And up until my freezer went kaput about a year ago, I was actually making free ice. You know, with those things called "Ice Trays". The same things I grew up with if we wanted ice.

A buddy of mine who is a Catfish guide makes his own ice out of wax impregnated milk/orange juice cartons - large blocks that last him all day on the hot booty river. I guess I'm now an official "Old Timer." Carry on.....

We still do the old gallon milk jug filled with water and put in the freezer for a couple days........put that in a cooler and will keep fish/drinks cold for a day.

I've found the orange juice jugs work better. They have a screw top and won't bust as easy. Two of them go in the fish cooler every trip.

I swore I would never spend the money and buy a Yeti and I haven't. But I was given a 35 qt for Christmas and won a 105 qt at a NWTF banquet so I said what the hey I
will use them. They definitely are durable but I haven't gotten a grizzly bear to chew on mine yet so I cant speak for being bear proof. I spend a lot of time on gravel and dirt
roads so one feature I like is the rubber seal around the top which keeps dust out and keeps my Coors from being muddy. Which in turn sometimes causes it to suction shut
and I have to crack the plug open which is no big deal but it infuriates my wife. Plus not to mention having to lock it in the back of my truck to keep the thieves from making off with it. The 35 qt full of ice and drinks I can handle by myself. The 105 qt full of ice and drinks weighs in bout 150 pounds. Do they hold ice like advertised? To a certain extent they do unless its 110 degrees and its riding in the back of a truck and the ice starts melting and sloshing around or you open it every 10 minutes. Are they good coolers? Sure but like anything they have advantages and disadvantages. Are they worth the
$$$$$$? Not really in my opinion but then again what is. Like I said I didn't have to buy them so I guess I cant complain about it.

Brute...american made and equally as nice as any others...

canyon coolers is made by same people as Yeti and K2 and tremendously less expensive...like $250 for 60 quart...$109 for 22 quart. I don't think they are quite as nice, but same rated for ice retention and insulation and made from same materials in same factory in Taiwan

It's basically 100 degrees outside right now. NO cooler is going to be a miracle worker in these temps. I don't care how much you spend on one. 2 days tops is all you'll get one to keep ice these days, and that's with it being kept in the shade most of the time.

well I have a 28 qt coleman from Wally World I been using almost everyday for 4 years think it set me back 20 - 25 bucks. Does it keep ice? All Day sometimes 2 if not to hot outside. Is it bear proof? Yep stays in my work truck in the floor. Is it worth the money? I think it was. The worst thing though it didn't come with any stickers for my truck!!!

The brute icechest are JUNK. I have had a 75 for less than a month and the latch is broke. I removed the screws (one each end) to access the rod holding the latch on and was thinking it is a one peice rod going through the chest. I push the pin in enough to put the superglued latch back on (until the new one comes in) then go to the other side to push it back into place. Turns out it is 2 separate pins that push directly into the insulation, so now both latches are off with the pins somewhere in the lid. I only replace hinges/latches once or twice a year on igloos and this thing didn't last a month.

The top, bottom, front and back are thick. The sides are less than 3/4" thick and around the drain plugs there is no insulation.

While I have not done any side by side comparisons it doesn't seem to hold ice any better than any of the marine igloos I have.

The chest and hinge seem tough though and the scale on it is nice but I think I am going to return this thing and get something else.

Taliban store at the top of the hill in yazoo city right by the BBQ shack has 8lb for .93 and macs grocery gas station in Ridgeland has 99 cent for 8 lb bag.

That's funny......I used to date the daughter of the guy that owns Frigid Rigid.........Fort Myers, FL. He would start up companies in Chicago and sell them off for big money. He made enough doing that and decided to buy a big foreclosure on the water in Fort Myers and started up that company and bought a big boat. Sweet life
